And I repeat for the umpteenth time that to me they are artistically overrated, not in terms of sales and success around the globe.

From someone named Porcupine, I can only expect criticism. So, in your opinion, what is the best album by the Pt? Moreover, saying "the album is not one of the most beautiful among theirs, even the walls know this," is absolutely untrue, since there are people who give it 5 stars just “because it’s by Porcupine Tree,” let’s be honest. Also, from what I've listened to (“The sky Moves…”, “Signify”, “Deadwing”, and half of “In Absentia”), I honestly don’t see all this genius in Wilson. In these albums, very good things alternate with good things and absolutely mediocre things. But still no masterpiece (according to how I see it).

Dear Cptgaio, at the limit, I wouldn't compare them so much to the bands of the past from the 70s (from which the Pt derive quite explicitly, we agree on that), but rather to contemporary bands of the Pt, since for me the masterpieces of 90s rock are others.. Of course, in the neo-prog scene with 70s influences they have done some good things nonetheless. In my opinion, Nirvana are a bit overrated, regardless of the fact that they borrow riffs from the Pixies (whom I adore).

for logic probe: you admit yourself that the first 3 songs are quite inconsistent... so it should be ruled out anyway that "Deadwing" is a masterpiece, right?

Not only on Debaser, in fact, but also on the web there are reviews that, in my opinion, are "hyped". On Ondarock, which seems fairly objective regarding the Pt, there is a review that gives Deadwing a 7, for example. The third album I listened to is Signify, which I would rate 3 stars (6+, 6.50 in tenths).

I repeat, here on Debaser there are streams of super triumphant reviews about the Pt. None have less than 4 stars (crazy stuff by my standards), but I always respect everyone anyway. From this, I gather that everything Wilson does with his band is passed off as gold. And I don't think that's a good thing. Have you read the other review of Deadwing? It starts by saying, "Wilson is like King Midas, everything he touches turns to gold." (for heaven's sake, everyone can write what they want in their own review, it's just my comment, I hope the good Socrates doesn't take it the wrong way) Now do you understand why I consider the Pt a bit overrated artistically?

Lord, you said it perfectly: this is a cold and synthetic record. Still, try "Sky Moves Sideways"; it's definitely better.

Dante Cruciani, "blackwater park" is a album by OPETH, a band friendly to Pt, that plays death metal with Progressive influences, and in Blackwater Park, indeed, you can also notice glimpses of distant psychedelic reminiscences...
