My Bloody Valentine Isn't Anything
Voto:
The album itself is a 4.5, compared to Loveless, it's a 4. Beautiful anyway.

Dear logic, Deadwing is not only not the masterpiece, but it is also probably the weakest album by the Pt. Now, the comparison to The Calling and the vibes that someone made in some post above, I've taken it as more of a provocation...a provocation that is sensible in some cases, though, because I repeat, some choruses, bridges and melodies of the Pt are really quite trivial. Take the chorus of Open Car, that of Swallow, that of Lazarus (and I’ll stop at this album)...for me they are frankly trivial. Just because you find them to be one of the most interesting bands of our time, it doesn’t mean they are actually one of the most interesting bands of our time...I listened to On the Sunday of Life, well, the difference between that album and today’s Porcupine is, frankly, abyssal. On the Sunday is a nice album, nothing new, mind you, compared to the past, but it has a much higher personality compared to Deadwing and In Absentia. It’s true, a song like "Jupiter Island" seems directly written by Barrett, but nonetheless, the result seems quite positive to me.

Oh well, even fundamental? I wouldn't know, I'm not a critic! But I can tell you which bands have released at least one very beautiful album (many of these albums I've mentioned in a previous post). Surely Fugazi, My Bloody Valentine, Mercury Rev (Yerself Is Steam is one of the most beautiful psychedelic albums of the '90s), Nick Cave, the incredible "Slow Deep And Hard" by Type O Negative, Tortoise (you have to have "Millions Now Living Will Never Die"), Cop Shoot Cop, Slint, Vampire Rodents, Yo La Tengo, Black Tape For A Blue Girl, "The Downward Spiral" by NIN is beautiful to me... and so many others that I hope to listen to one day (especially Morphine and Dirty Three).

Calm down Killgod, are you going to give this album 1 star and then 5 stars to Deadwing? :-)... just kidding.

Arianna, if you prefer we call it Personality instead of originality...Well, this album has such a personality that I feel compelled to give it no more than 3 stars :-)

I'm perfectly fine if you don't comment... that way you avoid making embarrassing rhetorical slips ;-)

Simply because you are the only person (maybe) on this site to properly downsize Porcupine Tree. This album, however, I must admit, is beautiful, nothing compared to records like Signify, In Absentia, and especially the unpresentable (in my opinion) Deadwing.
