Not bad the skitarrate of Katarro, a valid folksinger. I had noticed a certain "particular" interest in the Italian scene from you, easy, as the good foreigner you are :-P I’m waiting, that’s for sure, but the PU have been on the scene for thirty years now... let’s hope some good disciples pop up. As for the rest, I would agree with Stoney: sure, the numbers validate Pop as the dominant genre in the market, but Metal represents the "pop of rock" from my perspective, if only because countless Power bands are indeed pop in every way (just poor pop). But also black, death, and prog metal have become decidedly more POPular than maaaaaany other rock attitudes... (just look at Italy itself). Let’s say that metal, along with hard rock, is the most stereotypical and successful genre. I agree that Metal is anything but a "difficult," "cultured," "hard to appreciate" genre. It’s no coincidence that some 12-year-olds listen to Metal, not Coltrane X-D PS "Meanwhile, the only countries in the world where the metal phenomenon is really powerful are Germany, Japan, the USA, and England"..... mmm and what about the "satanic" Nordeuropa, where do you place that?? Then look at the countries you mentioned… one more industrialized and bourgeois than the other (and in some cases even richer), where massification and cultural homogenization reign supreme!

MMM, are you referring to classic Progressive when you say that there hasn't been a single band in the USA? Because there are Neo Prog bands in the US... it's not like I'm expecting musical revolutions on the level of American groups, but for crying out loud, the eternal father has endowed us poor Italians with imagination (in principle, that is)... it seems strange to me to notice that there are no disciples of Pere Ubu (given the historical weight of the band) making their mark (in the underground) around here... (as far as I know, of course). Then it's obvious, I'm not talking about clone groups (who would need that! evidently I expressed myself poorly!) of the originals; I would just like to see some influences, or attempts to draw upon a well-defined matrix... America, with all it has given, can do without counting a few trip hop groups in its list... Italy cannot! The American sensibility can be transported here too, in my opinion... regardless of the specific geographical, historical, and cultural context. Once you start to grasp that attitude, everything becomes possible. The problem is that not many people grasp it. I say this precisely because I am very much aware that I'm not the only one who has appreciated certain things, and that someone else must have noticed these shortcomings in Italy before me... someone will have to fill these gaps sooner or later, right?

I'll listen to easy if I get the chance... but I would like to reflect, as someone who is unaware of the Italian underground: is it possible that a certain type of American Rock culture (I’m referring to the "usual" Pixies, but also Built to Spill, Dinosaur Jr, or Hüsker Dü, or (changing genre/attitude) Pere Ubu or Cul de Sac?) doesn't take root in Italy? Is it possible, for example, that Ravenstine's synthesizer hasn't gained followers here in Italy? Or moving on to industrial… oh god, industrial in Italy… aside from Maurizio Bianchi, whose work I still need to listen to… it's not even considered! But, come on, a poor unfortunate soul who has listened to, let’s say, Foetus, and wanted to follow in their footsteps, even partially… no, right? Or some kid who wants to be influenced by the best Trent Reznor… but is Italy still part of planet Earth, right?? I would even settle for Italian Pigface (who aren’t the best anyway)! But now I’m reminded of Kerosene by Big Black… in how many millions of years will we witness the birth of a similar song from us? (maybe it exists and I don’t know… but I doubt it!). This fucking post-rock has gotten annoying, Italian and not!

Despite my fondness for the first long track of the album, and my appreciation for Tobias and the Edguy, the right rating is 1.

bennyrosso, maybe we just hadn’t listened to the Michael Jackson song? Or that one plagiarism more or less doesn’t change the substance of the discussion, which is that the DT creatively hover around 0? Personally, I know TOT by heart, I could hum it for you.

Well, culture always needs to be contextualized... it would mean, in the broadest sense, the collection of ideas, opinions, traditions, approaches and lifestyles, knowledge, hopes, etc., of a social group.

"Musical culture doesn't exist," come on! To go against the reviewer, let's not fall into the most extreme relativism! Vasco Rossi (with very few exceptions) is not an artist, he doesn't play music, and he shouldn't be considered at all.
