I must admit that I've never listened to Exhorder; I should check them out. Anyway, I wasn't even referring that much to innovation (in metal, it’s better to be cautious with that term), but rather to the fact that the sound of Pantera was definitely more original and distinctive at the time compared to the vast majority of similar bands. As for Voivod being the most revolutionary of the 80s... um... sure, Nothingface is a great album, but let's take it easy...

Sanjuro: there are no beautiful or ugly records relative to metal, there are simply beautiful and ugly records. Great metal records are also (and first of all) great rock records.

I tried to listen to it again out of curiosity.. An album that includes Another Day, Pull me Under, Under a Glass Moon, Surrounded doesn't even deserve 3 stars. I told you I was being nice yesterday morning. Seriously, not a single album by the Driiiiim is saved. Portnoy is as technical as he is boring and predictable.

I don’t mean to compare them for the sake of charity; I just want to say that the Panteroni are better, regardless of the different attitudes of the two groups. For me, the Shuga are objectively of little relevance :-)

I'm forced to fall in line with that foul-smelling mutt... the Pantera had an unmistakably unhealthy style and were a true powerhouse with their respective instruments, which the Mesasciuga can only dream of and will never achieve with their brainy, self-celebratory metal tricks!
