"If even your grandmother knows the Genesis (including their 80s era), and they still spark debate, there must be a reason"---they simply had great success because they were (literally) marketable. Period. Nothing more.

It seems to me that the reviewer is right.

Starblazer enough, you're not funny anymore. In fact, you never were.

I'm on the second piece...but is there a track in the style of Lacrimosa? How beautiful it was...

I don't love excessive citationism either... in fact, it's not something I see a lot in my review; in the end, I limited myself to some comparisons that aren't even too bold (Slide immediately reminded me of the gothic delays of the Swans, and, as if to make a point, after sending the review, I read online that someone even referred to the Low as gothic, specifically citing the Swans). So I think if an influence can be identified in a particular piece, sooner or later it will emerge from various voices. Probably in my review of the Red Temple Spirits, one could indeed find excessive citationism, but there the starting idea was to set the writing exactly in that way, and so I did, since the album called to mind various seamless influences. Of course, what seems to you an arbitrary connection might not be so for me. For example, the fact that "Words" has a melody and singing style reminiscent of Galaxie is, to put it mildly, evident. The point is: have you listened to the Galaxie? As for Drake, I can understand your uncertainty (his influence isn't that obvious), but in the end, there's always a bit of personal feeling, even within a certain objectivity.

"groups that manage to rack up a series of high-quality albums are a rare commodity, regardless of the musical genre, whether it's classic rock or the most brutal version of metal."----well, what can I say, you have a broad view of "musical genres" :-P

Sure, but it’s pointless to fill your mouth with the word art if you’re then giving 5 stars to Toto. Tastes, in theory, shouldn’t be discussed, but a little consistency wouldn’t hurt.
