I don't agree... songs like "evil" or "not even jail" are missing from the first one. The pathos is definitely there. Even in the opening track... the sound has become clearer; in fact, I also wrote in the review that the production is different. But to say that the pathos is lacking... I don't agree with you. It's a different album, yes... but still full of emotion. But we know these are personal feelings. I don't think Interpol are a one-album band. And come on, 5 out of 10 songs isn't bad... considering today's average.
