Porcupine was meant to convey the technical expertise and the variety of impulses that characterize the band members, there’s not much to understand. Anyway, your one for me is a compliment. Hi easy :) Well, you see, I think the chances that masterpieces exist in recent years are comparable to the existence of aliens in the universe. Accepting the dogma "The universe is infinite," it's practically obvious that other forms of life exist; just as on Earth there are millions of active bands and creative individuals, it seems almost impossible that there aren't neo-slint, neo-jesuslizard, neo-cocteautwins (I mean: groups of equal value to these). Maybe we need some Scaruffi to definitively praise an album and label it a "masterpiece." For example, this year ON and AIDS WOLF came out; I don't want to say they are super mega giga tera gems of rock, but I think masterpieces do exist, maybe no one has pointed them out to us. Mahhhhhhh :)

I'm re-listening to DOWN, musically it's freaking awesome @_@ really, maybe the most technically varied, and one of the most inspired in terms of composition. TOO BAD for Yow being underwhelming, definitely more of a background to the music; if he were still in his vocal period like Head Goat Liar, it might have even been their best @_@ Those fucking musical parts are killer.
