Kirk89: it's always the same story. You’re 17 years old, you probably don’t have a very extensive knowledge of rock and music in general, you turn on the TV and the only champions of the metal genre appear en masse: Metallica. You appreciate them, then even more, until you idolize them, changing your name to KIRK + Year of Birth or Hetfield + Year of Birth etc. Everyone goes through this, it’s a rite of passage for every teenage rock fan. But idol worship, at best, ends up with an analysis of what these four are: clowns. Just a bunch of money-hungry crooks, people who wouldn’t hesitate two seconds to sue THEIR FANS over the "Napster" issue, people who are 24/7 on MTV (the most horrendously commercial and pathetic music channel on the planet). In short, they have no shred of dignity; they’re buffoons just trying to buy some miserable row house, managing to extort 20 euros from the average kid for every new release. They’ve been making such crap music for years that it makes you want to stab your eardrums with a pencil just to not hear them anymore. If they were pure at the beginning, now they’ve really become varied, even though they never meant anything to me, even back in the day; much better are the great Bad Brains et similia. And now KIRK89, instead of responding with "Vomit" "Diarrhea Death" "Burning Dickhead" and other metalhead retorts, think that while you get your 10 euro weekly allowance, they rake in 10 million dollars a month and couldn’t care less about the crap music they make. But go listen to Meshuggah, will ya!

I said that pop has Christina Aguilera and metal has Metallica. I didn't say that Metallica is pop, I said it's just the most superficial and commercial trash in its respective genre. I'm listening to Messugah and Angkor Wat and they are powerful! Stay Tuned.

Even the Beatles have been plagiarized by thousands of bands, but this doesn’t automatically make them great musicians in their genre (PoP). The same goes for Metallica; the relationship between records sold and global influence is not directly proportional to artistic value. By reasoning this way, one could argue that Shakira and Britney Spears are enlightened because they have the highest percentage of teenage female emulators. If you think about it, the little girl imitates Christina Aguilera’s dance moves, and the metal kid tries out the gallops of Iron Maiden and the solos of Metallica. But not because they’re the best in their genre, but solely because they have had enormous commercial visibility. Vic, for me, remains great :)

Overrated.

There are some points that are unclear to me. You say they never signed with a major and then they played for a subsidiary of Epitaph, which is a major. And then they broke up to avoid signing with a major. Well, no band is forced to sign with a major; they could have continued making music without that support (see Fugazi, Big Black, etc.). I don’t know, I don’t know, anyway the review is good.

Always the same bullshit of church-politics and poser desecrators listening to mindless shit music. The anticlericals who make a "Federazione Italiana Fottipapa" and the supporters who fill their mouths with badass statements against the church. Well, you are religious, you are exactly the fruit of your time, you are the outcome of the crap that plays on TV, you pathetic brain-dead fools. Before, spewing mindless shit about the pope was a crime, and now it's accessible to any spoiled brat with their brain in the gutter (look at you). The Porco Dio have become a generational-alternative cliche, not realizing that that "Porco Dio" has in turn become a religious and unthinking dogma for average social people, a shameless product of your time. Once saying DIO PORCO was an achievement of intelligent individuals; now it's a code embedded in certain categories of nice, dim-witted people, indeed: with their brains in the gutter. For me, the pope up the ass is shit, but I certainly don't applaud as if you were geniuses, those 4 morons creating a concept of disarming triviality and obviousness like you shit-for-brains.
