how much I can't stand "this" Carrey... watching "The Cable Guy" was an experience of extreme masochism, definitely the film that most exemplifies the low profile of "this" Carrey.

Great, great movie. In response to Poletti, I want to point out: the Hollywood perspective on a theme like this couldn't be different or expressed in other ways, especially considering the time when the film was made.

Anyway, easy at the basis of my comment you referred to, there is my misunderstanding regarding Poletti. I wasn't indicating as "Berlusconian" anyone who doesn't appreciate the ending of this film (that would be absurd) but I was referring, at the moment I wrote the comment, to Poletti, who from the tone of the review had suggested that impression to me.

Thank you for the response Poletti, I agree with what you say. Moretti drove me crazy in his early films (Ecce Bombo for example is a film, rare in this respect, in which I believe there is never a drop in tension or a decrease in the significance of meanings). With La Stanza Del Figlio (which frankly I didn't understand... but perhaps I did understand and an "anti-Moretti disappointment" antibody made me convince myself that I didn't understand) in my opinion he declined. That is indeed a rather stale film (quite a lot), but maybe it’s just about growth. In the sense that he is no longer a "young" filmmaker (in the wonderful sense of Ecce Bombo) and that he has other priorities. Il Caimano is definitely a very "Italian" film, but Italian does not immediately mean "Morettian." Moretti is indeed a director who has taken a uniquely singular path in the history of our cinema, founding a very personal style based entirely on the play of structures of comedy and drama in a sociological sense. It is still too early to despair over a "end of that time that was," given that he has declared he will no longer make films as he did until now but will make films more often. That is certainly a good thing.

the consecration of charlize theron to FIGA in a scene that deserves to be seen over and over again from as many angles as possible.

It's a shame that you are so Berlusconian. I wonder what you grasped from this film if you say that the final Berlusconi-Morettiano part is weak.

beautiful movie. however, the quote you made from the article that appeared in "il Tempo" doesn't seem like a criticism to me; on the contrary, it captures (albeit superficially) one of the great subtexts of this film.
