Don't worry, Fusillo, I didn't write that comment thinking of Keaton as something inferior to Chaplin (and I would be careful not to do so). I was just thinking about the historical discourse in relation to the invention of sound and the evolution of the careers of the two actors. Compared to the two, Chaplin had many more resources, and that's why the introduction of sound didn't weigh on him. He was able to continue making films by producing them himself. The same cannot be said for the poor Buster, who, due to a matter of coherence with his style and a not overly generous availability of money, couldn't do the same. It shouldn't be a taboo to recognize certain things. Many artists were literally swept away by sound. Keaton remained true to his character, to what he had achieved with so much effort. However, the linguistic innovation that sound implied was too great. And perhaps he wasn't even interested in it.

Oh yes. Here the zombies are celestial (?), and the mall idea is nice, but it could have been used better. "Night of the Living Dead" (1968, I think) is a whole different planet.

"so much so that he is one of the few directors CAPABLE OF producing for himself"... bla bla bla

The idea that Chaplin continued to make silent films out of affection for the silent era seems imprecise to me. I remember that Chaplin was, in fact, very rich when sound was introduced, enough to be one of the few directors who could produce a sound film on his own. Which he did. Someone who was, on the other hand, crushed by that invention was Keaton, who indeed became obsolete. But it seems to me that Chaplin seized the opportunity. Or am I mistaken?
Einstürzende Neubauten Alles Wieder Offen

I really enjoyed this new album by Neubauten. It's far superior to Perpetuum Mobile, which disappointed me but I consider excellent for live performances (the bass line of the first song is created by Blixa making a stream of air from a compressor oscillate through plastic tubes). In Blow Up, I read an interview with Hacke where he said that for the first time the album is the result of a self-awareness of Einsturzende Neubauten as a group, and that the songwriting has, for the first time, truly moved in a uniform way, without adjustments among the members (in the earlier works, the instruments revolved around Blixa's vocal parts, while in this one, Blixa himself wrote and sang the lyrics in a much more cohesive way, achieving a stunning result). Great album. Perhaps their most mature one yet.

As the quote you mention confirms to me ("we don't know Velvet Underground"), I continue to be suspicious of all those bands that draw on the image and sounds of the past. They are meteors with a short lifespan. In their shoes, it’s an investment in life that allows them to sleep with as many girls as possible in the shortest amount of time. Music genres that are children of their time, however, and rightly so, fade away at the stroke of midnight of their respective eras. What we see today (with "today" echoing as an anachronistic term since this vintage rock fad seems to be long over) coming from these groups is nothing but a pseudo-music that not only has had its time but also leaves much to be desired.

know-it-all, you don't know what you're talking about. If he were to make music (I'm not saying it's superior to Radiohead, but at least halfway to the level of the judgments that this kind of human case emits), I would not only give him a 5, but perhaps I would even question my interpretative categories in the musical field. Obviously it's not the case because Rivoli is perhaps one of the best human cases that has come to Debaser in a while. Go Rivoli, keep it up. "just for the money.. gne gne gne gne".. AHAHAHAHAHA!

Congratulations on your musical and visual taste, Rivoli. The videos are of a finesse and concept that... really beautiful.

Rivoli, with a review like this and comments like yours, I expected at least some kickass music. Instead, I found myself facing cartoon theme songs... come on! Just step aside and let it go, Rivoli!
