And anyway, with every appearance, Javier Bardem made me think of Carmelo Bene.

Meshuggah ObZen
Voto:
Yes, Meshuggah are unique. That's why their work can only be critiqued based on their own work, their own territory. Gojira, The Ocean, and Coprofago are something else. I also heard a band that, it was said, was trying to copy Meshuggah's style. Needless to say, an operation like this is, from a strictly artistic and musical point of view, quite futile.

N.E.R.D. In Search Of...

Wow, the track "Lapdance" accuses the world of politics of having reduced itself to a stripper looking for money... what a deep theme, incredibly relevant to the American social fabric but above all undoubtedly felt by these N.E.R.D.s!! one of the best bands of the century!! and what the fuck!! but fuck off...

The review is exaggerated. You can’t appreciate Meshuggah (like you can appreciate a Satriani, a Petrucci, or a Minchiucci), you have to understand and worship Meshuggah. Period. The reviewer’s perspective is therefore skewed, since their focus is primarily on progressive metal, while the Meshuggah territory (despite being associative in many respects with progressive metal) is not progressive. The Meshuggah territory is something else entirely. Justice rightly states that Thordendal embodies anti-showmanship, while in progressive metal every guitarist is a show-off to the point of total flamboyance. I would also like to disagree with the judgment regarding Catch 33, which instead proves to be an absolutely brilliant and substantial album on all levels. That said, to set some necessary boundaries, I do agree with the reviewer about the judgment on the album. Because it disappointed me. Because I thought they would continue on the path of the "monolith" (from Chaosphere onward, each album became more and more granite-like, reaching its peak with Catch 33), whereas I find myself with a heterogeneous album, recorded terribly (it's not true that the recording is good: the recording SUCKS), and lacking in drive, with an AWFUL cover, and with tracks that feel empty for a fan like me. From Meshuggah, it’s reasonable to expect and demand, as they are a brilliant and seminal band, but this time they missed the mark. Okay, it can happen. It happens to many and it has happened to them too. I just hope the next one isn’t like this. I truly hope so. If I had to describe Obzen in one sentence to an alien just landed on Earth, who asked me "What’s the latest album by Meshuggah like?", I would tell them it’s an album for kids. (Album rating: 2.5)
