I didn't feel like giving a higher score... 4 out of 5 is just a step away from perfection, from a masterpiece; anyway, I believe it’s an unbelievable album... I liked August too, it might even be better than this one, it features Marc Ribot on guitar. I’ll try to get Blue Valentine.

beautiful review, telling songs is wrong, deadly, but drawing them, painting them, coloring them, makes them even more alive... maybe it's a way to "steal" them from those who brought them to life.....or just a simple goodwill....I will buy the record. tanks hal

unfortunately I have never had the chance to see it live, that would be something to remedy, imagination and transcendence...

I’m simply fond of this album, but that doesn’t mean I should evaluate it positively from a musical standpoint. It should have been an album of pseudotransitional delay, but instead, it’s a consolation for the old fans who only want funk and crossover. There’s no courage to change, only the desire to please, and because of this, there’s pure recycling, the worst thing for an artist.

It's true, like all beautiful things, they last little, or maybe that's why they are beautiful? I don't know.

Talking about Californication now that some time has passed is quite easy. In fact, I would have preferred to review By the Way, but given the other three reviews, I decided to give space to this album, which, even if it can't be understood here, I immensely love. However, it doesn't convince me; it's paradoxical, but I feel much more betrayed by Californication than by By the Way. In Californication, they try to please everyone, and some episodes of the album seem pathetic to me. In By the Way, except for two songs, they play what they want, and it's an attitude I prefer. For example, Venice Queen, for me, is a very beautiful song that is part of the new Red Hot, and I like it because I can sense a certain musical growth and an approach to melodies. In Californication, all of this, in my opinion, does not come through.
