Hey fiquata, that little vinyl trick where it gets stuck and repeats endlessly happens in the last song of Evol by Sonic Youth and all of this sends me into a frenzy. The Oneida album, on the other hand, is my album of 2009: I bought it as soon as it came out!! It definitely enhances and intensifies the ideas from Each One Teach One even though it’s not a perfect album; in fact, I would have chopped off at least 2/3 tracks (The Human Factor, Sunday, The River). What’s curious is that I didn’t find it as indigestible as many say, so there are two possibilities: either I understood and absorbed it perfectly, or I didn’t get a damn thing!!
Michael Mann Nemico Pubblico
Voto:
Seen. Not bad, but in my opinion, it's a slight drop from Mann's standard (which was sky-high even in a lesser film like Miami Vice). I think this film suffers from the same flaws as David Fincher's last effort, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"; that is, trying to emulate classic cinema with a pachydermatous screenplay but failing to give agility to the narrative and sufficient characterization to the supporting characters (not that Dillinger is portrayed well either, mind you). One thing I missed were those classic Mann scenes where the camera first focuses on the character's face and then on the horizon in a contemplative state, like a man who, in any case, confronts the infinity ahead of him. Satisfactory enough without disgrace or praise.
Spacemen 3 & Wooden Shjips Split 7"
Voto:
Not bad this split, but I wonder what its usefulness is, since it features a demo of one of the less impressive tracks from the legendary ones (Spacemen 3 without guitar, farfisa, or organ don't exist for me) and a cover, which is indeed really nice, from the same band. Anyway, the fact is I still enjoy listening to it. Congratulations on the review.
Mercury Rev Deserter's Songs

..I’ll tell you that I left a few years ago snubbing the pop period and drooling over the first 2 albums (Boces, especially). Now I’ve come to the conclusion that up to and including All Is Dream, all the albums are valid and have remarkable moments. So it’s love all around.. I also ordered it just a few days ago, hoping it arrives soon. Bye.

Hi Psycho!! We have never spoken, but I always enjoy reading your reviews (especially since we have more or less the same tastes when it comes to psychedelia).. This one about Mercury Rev is truly one of the best on this site!! Did you hear that they released a double compilation with all the Peel sessions of Mercury Rev? It's called "The Complete Peel Sessions" and it covers their entire career from Yerself Is Steam to All Is Dream. The tracklist is amazing (even though some of my favorite songs are missing: Holes, Something For Joey, Bronx Cheer), and there’s also a cover of Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath. Bye!

dear Kosmo, as for dubstep, I'm really a newbie to the genre (the only thing I've listened to is that collection), and if I were to write a review, I'd only be speaking from hearsay.. if you’re interested in writing it yourself, I’ll leave the honor to you.. bye bye
Fuck Buttons Tarot Sport

Not bad these trumpet-buttons. Those from Ondarock, just to show off and compete on who’s cooler among them, are divided between those who praise this album and those who think it’s garbage. I say it’s neither; it’s a good album, with at least 3 really great tracks, that works really well when blasted at high volume, providing a guaranteed psychedelic effect. By the way, it’s produced by Andrew Weatherall, the wizard of dub who produced Screamadelica. Also, I haven’t been into electronic music for a while, but lately I’ve been listening to (and enjoying) the mega compilation "5 years of hyperdub," has anyone of you heard it? Bye.

..in "High Fidelity" there's actually a discussion about the best 5 opening tracks of all time; one of the most interesting and curious parts from a musical perspective of the book... I don't know these, but your description has made me want to know more.
