Paul Verhoeven Robocop
Voto:
The scene where Murphy is literally turned into mush still gives me chills to this day; it's absurdly violent... However, the film is also very strong in terms of content, not just plot or special effects. In fact, Verhoeven himself explained that Murphy's death had to be as violent as possible to make the audience hate the villains (the gang led by the grim Curtwood Smith, did you see him in "That 70's Show"?) and to set up a kind of religious allegory where Murphy was to represent the crucified Christ (a hint is found in the moment when Clarence Boddicker blows off Murphy's hand, a clear reference to Christ's nailed hands) and Robocop the resurrected Christ. The fact that it’s sprinkled with TV segments and commercial breaks that literally overdose on sarcasm only proves how ahead of its time this film and its director were regarding the future of the world. Beautiful. Kudos on the review; it's concise and impactful.

It seems that there were indeed some strange "messages" in the videos projected behind the band... Anyway, thanks for the photo, I couldn't find even one.
The Dandy Warhols ...Come Down

In my opinion, everything they've tried to do is just picking a bit here and a bit there to see what might come out of it, which is why I always feel a sense of emptiness in their albums. I think in the latest album, only "Holding Me Up" stands out, creating a fairly sweet and ethereal atmosphere, even though it ventures into psycho-progressive territories that insist on repeating a single melody for several minutes. I won't judge the first album because I haven’t listened to it so far, but I've been told it's already better than this "... Come Down." I’ll add that regarding this album, my preferences don't only fall on "Not If You Were..." (which is just a pop single I appreciate as such) but also on "Be-In" and "Boys Better," as well as "Orange," as mentioned in the review. However, I want to reiterate that none of these songs offer anything beyond catchiness.

At a certain point, we couldn't stand the Mastodon anymore... we were there for the Tool. But even though I haven't listened to them yet, I believe I will sooner or later. The best live show I've seen so far.

The album is catchy and light enough, but it says very little. It was my first experience with Timoria and it definitely left me a bit disappointed. "Genova," however, is quite good, in my opinion.

The review is flawless... the analysis you've done of "Cop" is absolutely focused and precise. I would have written almost the same words... the album is one of those you have to listen to when you really want to make your skin and heart bleed. Absurdly beautiful.

I must have that live for sure.

Let’s say that "...And Justice For All" I like a lot more, also because it was the first metal album I ever listened to... I'm also very attached to this "Black Album," and I always listen to it with pleasure, but I see it as one of those albums you can listen to for fun without too much commitment; however, putting it on the same level as the others is impossible. Obviously, it’s a thousand times better than "Load," "Reload," and "St. Anger."

Newsted is a character I've always liked too... the most cocky and charismatic of the four, in my opinion. The "lack of ideas" you're referring to, Bonny, concerns "Load" and "Reload," not this album.

It's one of my favorites because it's not demanding, you can blast it at full volume and scream the choruses until you get a sore throat... but compared to the others, a four or even a five would be inappropriate.
