Queens Of The Stone Age Lullabies To Paralyze

off topic: I just listened to the new song by Nine Inch Nails, The Hand That Feeds: it feels like going back to Pretty Hate Machine, catchy, repetitive, commercial. Lame. Good thing they were supposed to be "12 punches to the face"... at this point, they’re at most 11.

The version available in Italy contains on one CD the album in SACD format, and a second SACD CD with various tracks, almost all already known to fans. The 3-4 unreleased tracks are demos. I thought the artwork would include comments, photos, notes by Trent: none of that, just lyrics and credits like the old edition, just a reformatting with a color variation on the theme of the old artwork. I don't believe the DVD version is available on the European market. However, the DVD does not contain anything special, just a few videos, even those familiar.

It lacks bite, I didn't find any great songs. the Long Slow Goodbye announced it as one of the best songs by Queens of the Stone Age: it's embarrassing. In Everybody knows that you're insane they sound like Soundgarden with a punk chorus. Then they said it was Stone Temple Pilots who were copying. Not that it's a throwaway album... heaven forbid, I wouldn't dare say that because it's still above average, but it was reasonable to expect much better. And I don't think it's Oliveri's absence that's the problem: it's the songs that are missing. I don’t know if Reznor will save us (avoid the reissue of TDS, I unfortunately fell for it), it's been many years... and the new lineup, aside from Jeordie/Twiggy, doesn't convince me. I’m sure DREDG and TOOL won’t disappoint. For those who still don’t know who the former are, order the album El Cielo sight unseen (if you don’t like it, I’ll refund you). As for the latter... tremble. (space for spam: no title

Yeah, it's been a while since I listened to them, during a phase of obsession with Warp. It's a great EP, not bad at all.

I have been a big fan of The Mars Volta since the early days, and I promoted them a lot back then. However, this album, while being a very respectable product, really disappoints me.
