I should have guessed you knew them! Indeed, Void Of Silence remain my favorites among my fellow countrymen; it’s a real shame they split up, "Human Antithesis" is a true gem.

And I need to have these too. Well done, Bathory.

Once I quite liked the style of Beauty and the Beast, especially the early Theatre Of Tragedy. "Velvet Darkness They Fear" and "Aegis" remain two great albums, as well as seminal in a genre that has often been abused and that I haven't followed for a long time now... But you never know, good the rec.

You’re right, there are also some great bands in Italy, it’s just that they are a bit underground, like Novembre, Ephel Duath, the unfortunately disbanded Void Of Silence, Canaan... If you haven't heard the last two, I recommend you consider checking them out.

I might just make one myself, too.
My Dying Bride As The Flower Withers

What can I say... I listened to this album for the first time one night, in the dark, from start to finish, and I must say it truly unsettled me. The deep growling, the violin, the laughter, the noises, the screams, the sudden accelerations make this album the most oppressive and horrifying listening experience I've ever faced. However, "As The Flowers Wither" is not just a testament to healthy masochism (which is still necessary); songs like "Sear Me" and "Return..." are hard to forget due to their alienating beauty; the latter in particular will be revisited by the band in a more modern key, but in my opinion, it does not reach the same communicative peak. Extreme depression and fear in music.

At this rate, it's fine for you, Stefano, but I should probably keep quiet since I send one a year!

Here, write the review of "Forest..." which is a cornerstone of Doom; in my opinion, however, Cathedral gave their best in the EPs: "Soul Sacrifice" is sublime, it’s my favorite work of theirs, but "In Memorium," "Statik Majik," and "Hopkins..." are also beautiful.

But why did you review the worst album by Cathedral? Aside from "Requiem for the Sun" and "Whores to Oblivion," I find it quite flat; I prefer the latest, "The VIIth Coming." The production still sucks, like in all their albums, but here it seems even worse than usual. In July, it looks like the new album, "Seeds of Decay," will be released; we'll see what Dorrian and the gang have in store for us.

Thank you, my friend, but don't exaggerate with the compliments, or I'll get a big head.
