Bonnie "Prince" Billy The Letting Go
Voto:
Thanks for the info, Dune :) It did seem strange that it had already come out and I had missed it like that!! I too was eagerly awaiting a return to form from BPB, after the truly disappointing "The Brave and The Bold." I'm sure that Will will reach truly great levels here, like those of the albums you mentioned, "I see a darkness," "Ease," and "Superwolf," above all. However, I think the live album (Summer in the Southeast) is far from "so-so," but it's a really exciting record... after all, it's one of the few albums I would take to a classic "desert island" (as I had already mentioned in my personal profile here on DeB)! :) Thanks, bye, JoP

Oh, wow... I didn't know it had been released! Great heads-up for an album that I will definitely get as a die-hard fan of Will Oldham. Hi, JoP

Shirley Horn I Remember Miles

Well, what can I say? Let's let the votes do the talking, dear rocchetto. Splendid rendition of "I fall in love too easily", a standard that already hit the mark with Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett...
Kurt Weill Die Dreigroschenoper (Opera da Tre Soldi)
Voto:
Great and encyclopedic review, fusillo, for Brecht & Weill. "Mack the knife" also comes to mind sung by Frank Sinatra... The citation of "Entartete Musik" is very beautiful, which was also the protagonist of a historic Decca series, featuring musicians from Weill to Schuloff, from Krasa to Zemlinsky. Everything is beautiful on this page, congratulations! JoP
Chick Corea - Miroslav Vitous Tones For Joan's Bones - Mountain In The Clouds

Beautiful page, symbad. I only have Corea and Vitous on record with Roy Haynes in "Trio Music" which was released by ECM... Very interesting mention, well done.
Stan Getz Bossas And Ballads: The Lost Sessions
Voto:
The emotion of Stan Getz, his mood now serene, now turned inward, that soft and delicate sound that brushes the skin in a thousand shivers. Stan is a monumental figure, from "Getz-Gilberto" to the phrasing with Barron, to the virtuosic acrobatics with Oscar Peterson. A great page, primiballi, and a very appreciated mention.
Keith Jarrett Gran Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, 19 luglio 2006

Another beautiful page on this live after Frantz’s, another intense, lived, and ecstatic page that increases the regret of not being there. Lines that convey the peaks of intensity one can reach with music, almost a communion of spirits, a sublimation. Welcome, Andrea, from me as well.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Strauss Oboe Concertos
Voto:
Thank you, fusillo, for the constructive criticism! :) I don't know Wolfgang Hildesheimer, but I've noted this book, and I'll look for it soon. As for the confusion between the oboe and the bagpipe... well, you see, I've played the oboe since the first year of middle school, so I believe I know this instrument a bit, which I've already reviewed several times here in DeB :) The "ciaramella," the ancestor of the oboe, was a classic pastoral instrument and traditionally associated with Christmas. Regarding the being "rude," the oboe is actually an extremely versatile instrument, sometimes extremely poetic, and other times a bit less so. Perhaps instead of rude, I meant "popular." A bit like in certain works by Schumann, in Vaughan-Williams, in the concerto by Martinu. You can truly appreciate the oboe's roughness, and all its rugged drama, for example in Maderna. Best regards, JoP
