A GREAT ONE. If I could give a 10...
Susanne Abbuehl April

Thank you guys, too kind!!! For odra, the record is ECM, from which Susanne's new album should also be released in the early months of 2006. I promise the samples when I'm back from a hard day at work :))

Odradek, you don't have to apologize!!! As Hal wrote in his beautiful review: "Quot homines, tot sententiae"... and it's only right to defend your "inner feelings" (just to quote a line from the album)! I would like to add that, as a newbie to the site (which is fantastic!), the truly exciting thing is how much one learns, musically and otherwise, from the dialogue among "us" (I'm one of you now too!) DeBaserians! PS You have a fantastic nickname, great Kafka!
Jan Garbarek & The Hilliard Ensemble Officium
Voto:
Officium is a cult album that was meant to remain a unique work. It’s a real shame that ECM failed with a lackluster replica (among other things, a double CD) like Mnemosyne, which shamelessly juxtaposes Hildegard von Bingen with Peruvian folk songs... Officium, on the other hand, is an excellent product, probably exceeding the most optimistic expectations of its patron Manfred Eicher. It should still be savored in homeopathic doses.
Fiona Apple Tidal

I fully agree. Fiona is captivating in every aspect, from her vocal qualities (dark and deep voice) to her physical presence (which, let's face it, never hurts...). An album that I find very enjoyable, driven by "Criminal." Fiona is definitely worth listening to for her remarkable cover of "Angel" by Jimi Hendrix as well. The way she sings reveals that she lives music deeply. No wonder Johnny Cash wanted her for a chilling cover of "Bridge over Troubled Water" (American IV). A great review for a great artist.
Johnny Cash American IV: The Man Comes Around
Voto:
Johnny Cash was, is, and will always be a giant. And in his swan song, you can hear it once again (if there was any need...). Great review and an album that everyone must have. Just one more word about "I Hung My Head," perhaps the most profound track on the album, a voice that strips the soul with its intensity. Fiona Apple does a wonderful job holding her own against Uncle Johnny in "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Ah, how we miss you, Johnny!!!
