...there are also those who argue (but in my opinion the reasoning falls short) that it's a reference to Let It Be by the Beatles. Or the explanation is even more straightforward: U2 have simply reused the "cubed" graphic for the third time, which started with Achtung Baby and continued with Zooropa. In any case, a cover that is much less somber than that of ATYCLB or HTDAAB, the latter being particularly gloomy...

...uhm... actually, bogusman, it reminds me of certain works by Warhol (like that very famous one of Marilyn Monroe), which in turn inspired the cover of "Remain In Light"; thus, there is an underlying reference to pop art in general. :-)

Hi, I'm early. To be honest, there's not much to say. My judgment on Lou Reed's works is influenced by the fact that, perhaps, I don't love him as much as I love Bob Dylan or David Bowie. Consequently, I am always very strict with his works whenever I find them lesser. Towards the other artists I mentioned, however, I usually always wonder why and how, finding fascination in imperfection. A privilege that I simply do not reserve for Reed. As I once explained to Caz during a quick exchange of messages, in the comments at the bottom of the reviews, I don't express a critical judgment (unless I’m talking about bands like Dream Theater, analyzing technical issues, etc.) but rather an emotional one. I basically communicate the sensations I feel while listening to the album. A musician as... visceral as Lou can only be listened to, and possibly judged, based on what I call a spark, which ignites between the artist's inspiration and the listener's feelings. Sometimes it ignites, sometimes it doesn't. In this case, the album left me cold. And consequently, bad thoughts, the ghosts of reason took over. Don't worry about it, mask: after all, it's a matter between me and him. I didn't mean to put you on edge: the words you used to review the album are perfectly fine, and the positive feelings, the private conversation that sparked between you and Lou, is not my right to judge. Best regards.

Hi Robi. I'm replying in a hurry only because I have to go out (damn!!!). Strange Dejavu reminds me of Neon Knights in the second part, but you’re right, it’s a bit of a stretch. Instead, in the middle of the central solo of "Behind This Life," Dream quote for about a minute the rhythm and melody line of "Money." Or rather: they self-reference, taking a riff from "When The Water Breaks" from "Liquid Tension Experiment 2," which in turn was inspired by the rhythm of "Money." Incredible, right?

Thank you, Marco. You always pay attention when someone uses the term "citation": it's not always used to denigrate a group as "useless" or "unoriginal"; often it's actually used to allude to the level of erudition of a musician (see David Bowie, who never invented anything he played but always interpreted it divinely). "Sound erudition" is precisely the distinguishing feature of Dream Theater. If you want to take a look at the music of the bands I mentioned (of which you might not own the albums), I recommend this very well-made site: Progressive Rock Music Ultimate Discography ... with Free MP3, Videos and Reviews It is set up exactly like Debaser, but it’s entirely dedicated to progressive rock. You can also download mp3s for free. Enjoy the listening!!
