Rage Against The Machine Rage Against The Machine

Stuffing the lyrics with naive Marxist invectives and signing with a major label can be considered a "minor sin" if the music is good. However, this is the case with the great Gang Of Four, and certainly not with Rage Against The Cappuccino Machine. Ten or more years ago, my more "counter" schoolmates (but against what, really?) lent me a cassette from these gentlemen, and your phrase "how to take the most banal elements from two different genres and layer them" describes well what I thought too while listening to them. Not remembering whether it was the album in question or other "masterpieces," I refrain from giving a rating to the record (and from piling on). The only note I would make, Nouquito, is that you cannot lay the blame of music journalism on the bands.
Devo Q: Are We Not Men? A: We are Devo!

I don't know why I hadn't commented on this review until today...
The album is great, a perfect example of schizoid American new wave, neurotic and cheerful-demented, which strongly differs from the depressed and introverted English new wave.
The version I have, however, is a bit "weighted down" by the attached mini-LP "Devo Live," which doesn't live up to the rest.
But if you tell me that Duty Now is even better than the debut, I'll rush to buy it.

Write well, even if more than a review of an album it seems like an article on the career of the Cure.

I listened to this album a long time ago; I remember it being mediocre pop rock, but it wasn't anything so vomit-inducing—there was far worse out there at the time. Giving it a one might be too little, although I understand the disappointment one feels when listening to an album praised by critics and the public that leaves you completely indifferent. I experienced the same thing with "The Fragile" by NIN. Nonetheless, an entertaining review (I share the criticisms of the voice; Yorke's falsetto really gets on my nerves) even if it had a few too many colorful phrases.
Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness
Voto:
In the 90s, when I caught a video of the Smashing Pumpkins on MTV, I would immediately change the channel, just like I did with Oasis or a few years earlier with Guns'n'Roses. I found them unbearable, the epitome of rock banality. Time has (almost entirely) vindicated the latter two bands, while the Smashing Pumpkins, especially with this album, are still celebrated by both critics and the public. This made me wonder, “Could it be that I underestimated them?” Moreover, someone pointed out to me that I couldn't judge a band solely based on the singles (even if I found them terrible) but had to listen to the body of work in its entirety. So finally, I downloaded the mp3 of Mellon Collie, and over the next few days, I will try to listen to it carefully, even though from what little I've heard so far, I'm afraid my opinion will be more in line with this review than with those who consider the album a monumental masterpiece.
Diaframma Pioggia / Illusione Ottica
Voto:
Beautiful, it may have been heavily influenced by the sound of Joy Division, but the songs were their own creation and they were excellent. Moreover, that way of singing in Italian was unprecedented until then. To get these tracks, however, you don't need to take out a mortgage; just buy the cheapest collection, Albori.

To disprove Poletti: Riccardo Bertoncelli (24,000 Dischi) rating 5/5, Simone Arcagni (Guida Giunti New Wave) 5/5, Stefano Isidoro Bianchi (Enciclopedia Rock Baldini & Castoldi) rating 5/5.

Yes, actually no, sorry, I made a mistake, there is plagiarism, but the excerpt was "The World Before Last," always from "Reproduction" from 1979.
Cranes Self-Non-Self

For Fosca: if you want to hear something else by the Cranes, I recommend "Forever" or "Loved"; for me, those are their masterpieces.
