It's true, you're right, but many albums, absolutely incomparable to Aguilera and the like, can be enjoyed after just a few listens. I found the Maiden album to be decent, rated at about a 7 minus or a 6.5, but it's been since Seventh Son that they haven't released an album that hits hard right away. Okay, that can happen after so many years in the business, but many try to convince themselves to like it, maybe not in your case, partly to justify the money spent, partly because a Maiden album can't just be a complete dud. I've never bought into the fairy tale that albums grow on you after repeated listens. There’s no yeast in records.
