You might have seen it a few days ago on La7, and I intended to write a review about it. A good film but one that wants to don the clothes of a historical blockbuster. The "tear-jerker" effect is overly refined, the compassion for the indigenous people feels manipulated. The characters of the cardinal and the slave hunter played by De Niro are stereotypical. The cinematography is excellent, as is Irons' performance, and Morricone's soundtrack is one of those examples of music that can stand apart from the film.

Yes, but what joy is there in having your own fake in human cases? The glory, the honor is in stepping in yourself. But, it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for you to gain access to the realm of human cases... :-)

Having loved the book so much, I have many reservations about the movie. It's quite natural for films to have endings that differ significantly from those of the book. I Am Legend is a work devoid of any hope, and I hope that this tone is preserved in the film with Smith.
