Journey Trial By Fire

Not all reviews of Trial by Fire are enthusiastic. Some even emphasized it as the worst album with a Perry who now seemed like Fred Bongusto... Anyway, I like it a lot...

Oh yes, he was one of the many who participated in the famous project.

Another consideration: over time, Perry's voice has become much warmer and deeper, losing that range he had in the early days (just remember how high he could go in We Are the World).
Michael Angelo No Boundaries
Voto:
Yeah, the attitude. The thing is that none of us would probably ever, despite training, achieve the results of the dirty and affected Angel. It's a bit like playing hours and hours of soccer and never becoming a Ronaldinho or a Maradona.
Jordan Rudess Secrets Of The Muse

Yes, but it doesn't have what the two dictators, Petrucci and Portnoy, granted to Moore. In the compositional phase, it is not so impactful.

I like reading the comments you guitarists or musicians make about your peers because it gives me, as a novice, the impression that anyone could come along and play better than, say, Angelo, Vai, Malmsteen, or whoever else. Maybe that's not your intention, but the overall effect is that. How many years and how many hours a day do you need to practice to reach Angelo's level? Just like that, without a metronome or sheet music. Let’s set aside taste and creativity—either you have it or you don’t—but how much practice does it really take?
Allan Holdsworth Metal Fatigue
Voto:
A good review for the most admired guitarist. Probably the most complete one around, impossible to find a flaw in him.

But does a case for a guitar like that exist?
Iron Butterfly In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Voto:
But was it the Iron Butterfly that was played by an old lady on the organ in an episode of The Simpsons?
Jordan Rudess Secrets Of The Muse
Voto:
An album that reassesses Rudess, often unfairly accused of being technique for its own sake. I also recommend listening to 4NYC and Resonance, all improvised between piano and keyboards. Imagine if the Theater were given more compositional space...
