Thank you, Qzerty… I gather that you are a fan and probably a musician as well. I’m happy to know that Kraft uses Cubase SX; I use it too… but I’m pretty sure I saw the “Live” screen, at least on Schneider’s notebook. Anyway, whatever they use, God bless them. I noticed too, while watching the DVD, the difference between the various individual setups; in fact, the two who are the most hands-on live are the two newcomers (to whom I believe goes the credit for the amazing sounds of Tour de France). Schmitz in Turin was using a 2-octave M-Audio Ozone or Oxygen8 keyboard (I use it toooooo… hehehe, I’m a robot too, hooray) and that amazed me, considering it’s a somewhat amateur and unreliable instrument in live situations. But surely, the Kraft know what they’re doing; they don’t seem like the kind of people who leave decisions to chance. Anyway, a stunning live performance; at the concert in Turin, some of the major representatives of the “Turin music scene” were present, and everyone came out with their heads down, astonished and incredulous at least as much as I was, being a mere mortal.

For Zurk.... the 4 live "sound" indeed, in their own way and with their instruments. From what I managed to "spy" during their concert in Turin on 18/05/2004, they use a software on their Sony Vaio that seemed to be "Ableton Live," but I've heard they have custom software and plug-ins developed by Steinberg and others.
For little.... I saw Kraftwerk live and honestly, it seemed to me that the condition of "robots" is getting quite tight for them. Hilpert and Schmitz struggle to stay still, and it's obvious they'd like to move around like Keith Flint from the Prodigy (you can see it in the DVD too). At the Turin concert, the good Ralf Hutter was tapping his foot in time and singing joyfully, while Florian Schneider often stepped away from the stage (prostate issues?) and even smiled on a couple of occasions. Something very far from 4 robots, in short. As for the eighties aesthetic, that's perfectly fine... even the projections with the 7-segment numbers and the wireframe suits like in Tron, okay... but was THAT kind of aesthetic and discourse, with the quality possible in 2005, something impossible to achieve? In my opinion, the video "aerodinamiklive@mtv" represents what Kraftwerk is in 2005, when they are not captured by the parish video service. In any case, it's the only official DVD we have, so... let's enjoy it to the fullest!

hahahah.... Qzerty, I wasn't offended, far from it... unfortunately, I'm a bit "obsessed" with audio-video quality and I focused on the technical aspect precisely because (as a long-time fan of Kraft) I expected more. I will look for the DVD you recommended by Clapton, and I suggest, if you haven't seen them yet, the DVDs "David Byrne live at Union Chapel" and "Peter Gabriel Growing Up tour live," which are really well done (and, to be honest, they were also MOOOLTO easier to film compared to Kraft, considering the presence of light "in the room"... :))))

Hello everyone... I had the fortune to attend the Turin concert on 18/05/04; being a lifelong fan of Kraftwerk, I walked out practically lobotomized, like most of the audience, including some representatives of the local "musical elite." Ehm, excuse my ignorance, but... the bass line in "The Model" sounds exactly like it does on the studio album to me, it's just at a lower level in the mix and the notes are slightly more "muted." What changes, instead, is the melodic line that exactly doubles the bass, played with a horrendous "pseudo D50" synth sound. I would have expected that from Phil Collins, not from Kraftwerk. In any case, still Inarrivable Masters.
