Um, I found all the Mastodon albums in the store: "Lifesblood," "Remission," and "Leviathan"... which one do you recommend I start with, Marcel?

I love Ciddì.. what can I do.. it's the first one I listened to from Neurosis and I fell in love with it right away.. while the other gems like Souls At Zero took me a bit longer to appreciate. Now they are much less angry anyway. What do you say about Mastodon? Are they worth it??

I really like Marcel; it's their first work, very different from all the subsequent albums. It closely resembles only "The World As Law," but even though it has nothing to do with "Throught Silver In Blood" or "Souls At Zero," it's the only old school hardcore without frills that I can listen to without getting overwhelmed (along with Black Flag). In my opinion, it's an excellent album, as raw as you want, but the stunning cover perfectly embodies the nihilistic and subversive spirit that dwells in the coils of these two (and I emphasize two) records... anyway... the verdict is up to posterity...

I don't know, but I really like this latest one after listening to it again (Lullabyes), as well as Songs For The Deaf and the self-titled album (these are more immediate). Lullabyes seems more similar to Rated R to me, which I also started to truly appreciate after quite a few listens. Also, I wouldn't label QOTSA as sellouts just because they released a live album... when other renowned bands release two a year (who said Pearl Jam??) and are still considered honest and sincere in their proposal (for me, this just amounts to mere recycling aimed at draining money from the fans…).
