rude. I believe that Faith No More did not possess the "black" exuberance that groups like RHCP, Fishbone, etc. had. Then again, if you are 40 years older than me, that's another story. And if you think that mentioning names I don't know proves you are right, well, that's your problem.

In short, maybe I don't know all those bands you mention (some I do), but in my review I just wanted to say that the original crossover has little in common with nu-metal. And I'm not making excuses, it's you who's overthinking.

So. Nu-metal is not a DIRECT offspring of pure crossover (intended as funk rock) because its attitude was generally one of pure fun; the Peppers were tough, meaning they were not very catchy (not at all) in a musical landscape that was noted for its big choruses, etc.; the new wave was definitely a "cooler" movement than crossover and it didn’t lack many intimate, cold, and dark moments (the dark music; the post-punk of Television); Faith No More didn’t have the crossover philosophy (always understood as funk rock) because they didn’t shy away from moments of slight intellectualism and were influenced by grunge depression.

My mistake was calling funk rock CROSSOVER; it’s not necessarily an error, but it created quite a few misunderstandings.
