This story about feces in the water is absurd. It's not very well explained, by the way. It's unclear whether it's due to an incident during the festival (like when they break the fountains) or a structural deficiency of the place.

I picked at it here and there without reading it all to avoid spoilers. It seems solid, and I feel a bit sorry for this downsizing of Eggers. At the time, I really liked The Witch; I haven't seen the next one yet.
