Quentin Tarantino The Hateful Eight

On 400calci I found the perfect phrase to explain what I didn't like about the film: "The cross and delight of The Hateful Eight lies somewhat in its aim, which is to inject into its narrative some of the endemic social tensions of the 'new world' and to let them proliferate in an exaggerated whirlwind of violence, verbosity, and malice (a reason that leads me to believe it’s one of the 'movie movies' in the Tarantino cinematic universe) to the extreme consequences. Delightful because it’s a clever experiment and an interesting film to watch, but a cross because it’s such a metaphor that’s so closed in on itself that it begins and ends there, like an experiment indeed, on the verge of a moral tale and perhaps with a few too many underlines."

I agree on almost everything, but not on the idea that this should be a universal lens through which to view society. Stories are inherently individual; everyone follows their own path.

A beautiful reflection on the comic and tragic language in the face of loss. Truly an important work in my opinion. My review here: Fabio-Cinema: 100. Quel fantastico peggior anno della mia vita

The only one of the KC that I still haven’t fully processed. I’ll give it another try.

It's an album that grows a lot with repeated listens. I don't agree with the judgments made about Mastodon's albums, but on this one, I mostly agree. Nothing too ambitious, solid technique but not exceptional. Yet it flows well, the melodies are noteworthy, and most importantly, they don't tire after several listens, which might have happened with Crack The Skye. How do you see the further melodic shift in Once More Round the Sun?

Beautiful, but I wasn't 100% convinced by the final core of the story, when it is revealed that Thomas and Lucille kill "only" to take the inheritances of their wives. I was expecting something more esoteric, but I realize that the choice is legitimate. If you want to read my opinion, you can find it here: Fabio-Cinema: 95. Crimson Peak

I read the review in Internazionale today and for a moment I thought I had hallucinated at the cinema and seen something else. Then I realized that, once again, they just wanted to be cool. It seems they also panned Whiplash because it is "right-wing." A sensible way to look at cinema indeed...
