There’s something abnormal about the fans of this stuff, some mysterious enigma that makes the previous trilogy (mostly a huge pain in the ass until the third film) seem beautiful, spectacular, and perfect, while this Hobbit, which is essentially the exact same thing, just ā€œThe Fellowship of the Ring 2.0ā€, is a total piece of crap. Yes, there won’t be equally charismatic protagonists (but also not as annoying), there won’t be that urgent end-of-the-world tone, but damn, it’s the same stuff, aesthetically even three notches better. I, who am neither a fan of the films from 10 years ago nor of the three that are coming, wonder what the hell goes through the minds of these ā€œfantasy fansā€; it’s probably just in vogue to say that the old trilogy is better, Star Wars style, only that in Star Wars it was a unanimous opinion, here we’ve only seen the first one so far, and it’s the same as the old ones, no more, no less.

It's clearly not one of his best, but in my opinion, it's still decent and worth watching.

it's inferior to the prequel in a bad way, but it's not as awful as they say; most of the action movies from that era were much worse. The fact is that people are burned by the idea that the memory of the first film is partially tarnished by a weaker sequel. A masterpiece, though, in comparison to the steaming pile of shit that Carpenter has churned out in the last 30 years.

Snagged it on Steam last week, I wouldn’t have given it a penny, I’ve never read the comic and find the second season of the show mediocre and the third nice... it’s a technically old game, with a handful of bugs and glitches that are no laughing matter, some people even report lost saves (in a game where saving is everything), the gameplay is simplistic, and the puzzles could be solved by a zombie. Yet, thanks to writing that surpasses even the television show (the plot is excellent, the dialogues are too), solid characters, and a gameplay mechanism that truly gives the illusion of determining events, Telltale’s latest manages to make up for everything, even a few shock deaths thrown in. From a certain point of view, it will go down in history as a precursor to a specific way of making what is fundamentally a 10-12 hour movie interactive. I’m eagerly awaiting the second season in March.
