Great movie, good soundtrack. I haven't seen it in at least ten years, I think...

I know the beginnings of PJ, I have been a fan of FilmBrutti.com - Recensioni di B-movie, film brutti ed altri disastri cinematografici for a long time, and I highly recommend the (S)Cult section.

I like my trash splatter, disgusting, and over the top. Here, it’s all trash, but the feeling of pity and compassion for the dogs on screen (don’t you dare call them actors) fills me with a profound sadness. Let’s be clear, the embarrassing dialogues, the "illegal races," and the girl who looks like a hooker "fighting for freedom" do bring a smile, but it’s not my kind of trash. It falls into the category of movies you can rate 1 or 5, and the meaning is the same.

Okay, saw it a few days ago because there was really nothing else in the cinema that I hadn't already seen or that was worth it. Simply the worst Burton ever, a Disney film from start to finish, so bad that it makes Burton's own Planet of the Apes look like a great movie.

Dear Holdsworth, I fear you've missed the essence of the film: it makes little sense to take a 40-second sequence at the beginning of the film as you do, and to say that because you didn’t like that sequence/it didn’t entertain you, the film is all like that et bon. This film is brilliant precisely because, through provocation, it pushes people to bring out the worst in themselves and to show how mediocre and troubled “normal” people are, in contrast to the deliberately “abnormal” protagonist. The ability to have a civil rights advocate sit on Mexicans used as chairs, to make a parent accept liposuction for their 4-year-old, to get those who think they can convert a gay person into straight to throw in the towel, to embarrass/push people to the point that it puts them on the defensive and makes them behave much worse than the protagonist provides a stark snapshot of our society, where people seem normal but with just a little push, you can see how low they can fall. Of course, there are those who stop at a silly/comic sequence and base their entire evaluation of the film on that. A bit like those who judge a book by its cover.

it stands below Scorsese's films, no exceptions, just as it stands below Carlito's Way by the same De Palma. But it is also two notches above the film by R. Scott.
