@47: Be careful, what you’re saying is the result of advertising. Especially in Italy. Take mobile phones and the latest smartphones: are there more nerdy and practically useless gadgets? Probably not, but since they are advertised and associated with tits and asses, they then become trendy. So the phone becomes a cool object. The iPhone itself is a terrible phone, but it embodies design and simplicity criteria that present the dimension convenient for the masses: that of the remote control. The issue of art is still somewhat shareable; often video games contain genius, but art is another thing. At least, usually it is, games like Braid make you reflect as much as a good book and more than a good film, so perhaps the problem is that the most interactive media out there hasn’t been exploited in that way yet. And maybe the very name "videogioco" is starting to feel too tight for it.

@Bartle: you have no idea what "Cadio's" brother (the keyboardist) has to put up with here in Aosta :D and he's a nice guy too... Every time he walks into the venue, there's someone who updates him on how "famous" his brother is being a queen, lately MTV even recruited him for TRL... it only took starting a sentence with "today I saw MTV" and the guy would become sad and disheartened.

@Sotanaht: 1- I would be careful not to tell someone they know nothing about something; it's hard to know who you're talking to behind a monitor. 2- MGS is historically important as a title on PSX (to be truthful, Metal Gear has much older origins dating back to the '80s, but whatever). The subsequent chapters are historically insignificant, starting with the controversial MGS2, even though they may subjectively be considered great titles. 3- Kojima is certainly an important creator, but he is also one of the most overrated in history. His name is associated with only 2 franchises, namely the MGS saga and Snatcher; everything else is trivial stuff that is absolutely forgettable (and yes, ZOE is junk). We are far from the gurus of the Japanese industry or the big names in America, who each have at least 5-6 different intellectual properties that have made real marks on the history of gaming. This is just to downplay the "genius" and give him the place he deserves, a few rungs lower than what fanboys do. Then, as I said, I haven't played the title in question, but the review is quite exhaustive and I share the underlying opinion. Perhaps given the high production values, it deserved a slightly higher score, but if the reviewer decides to penalize the title for its gameplay, that's fair enough.

The underlying discourse is interesting; I haven't played this title, so I won't express an opinion, but it's all stuff I thought about a decade ago regarding MGS2, a tedious interactive movie. The story of the current generation is true; games are on average incredibly easier and more guided, and the much-touted AI that made leaps forward until 2000 has now taken 10 steps back. Some time ago, I came across Mass Effect 2, hailed as a masterpiece by popular acclaim, and it's a title where the player is practically taken by the hand and guided to the end, which strongly clashes with the very concept of RPG. Alright, I'll wrap this up and go do a quick rush in Starcraft 2 before heading out, take care.
