it didn't impress me as pleasantly as Match Point, but overall it does the job... and then there's Scarlett, and she's always worth watching...

p.s. Brandine is Cletus's wife, but being southern rednecks, it's also assumed she might be his sister :P

quote from Poletti: "I notice, however, that many do not understand how much more (refined) satire there is in The Simpsons compared to South Park. South Park's satire is straightforward; even a fifth grader would understand it, leaving nothing to the imagination. The Simpsons (which are also watched by 6-year-old kids who don't understand a thing) is much finer and subtler, almost always implying rather than stating. But it’s there, it’s really there. The pshychopompe motion completely convinces me." Ok, now don’t take offense, but it’s exactly the opposite for the past five years. Ok, SP relies on vulgarity, but put a kid in front of an SP episode and the only thing they’ll grasp will be the swear words. Themes like Scientology, pedophilia, racism, and the myriad of other "adult" topics tackled and/or mocked will bounce right off them. The same goes for Family Guy, perhaps the most loved/hated cartoon of recent times (which is a spin-off of American Dad): it doesn’t shy away from bad taste, but we still have one of the only television shows capable of laughing at everything and everyone under any circumstances. Proof of this is that for the past couple of seasons, it is The Simpsons that are chasing the Griffins and not the other way around.

It's not nonsense, it's the plain truth. I hope the movie puts an end to a saga that the creators refuse to let die a natural death. High-quality gags in The Simpsons have been absent since 2003... we’ve reached the point where the clone has surpassed the original, and a product like Family Guy, though crude and indifferent to bad taste, manages to make jokes and scratch the surface on any topic, something that The Simpsons haven’t done for quite a while. On the contrary, South Park has been around for 11 years and nowadays offers a show better than its early days. The Simpsons should have died years ago, and MG would do better to focus its energies on Futurama, since that series has been on the rise all along.

maybe one of the only ones by Allen that I still miss... some time ago I had a soft spot for Ricci, next time I'm at the block I'll grab it

The Simpsons, unlike South Park or Family Guy that improve from season to season, are aging very poorly... the last 4 seasons are simply horrendous, with at most 3-4 episodes per season that are worth watching. South Park, on the other hand, is always on the rise, and the latest seasons are simply sensational. This movie is a cult classic.
