And the mondo movies are highly appreciated overseas, processes don't give a damn to anyone, let alone should it matter to an audience.

What the hell are you talking about? It's you who equate different genres like thrillers and avant-garde splatter. Let's not kid ourselves. Moreover, Salò comes 13 years AFTER mondo movies... great critique and overall vision from Pasolini, but you can't say that certain themes hadn't been touched upon before. And anyway, Salò shouldn't even be compared to various Cannibal movies; the former belongs to well-defined trends, while Salò is a mix of various genres. And Cannibal Holocaust is THE gem of neorealist splatter, like it or not. The next person who compares films like Saw and Cannibal Holocaust will be struck down by cholera.

thank you :) I was just wondering if anyone here had been to that Salento one... was it on the beach or is it just a rumor that’s going around? When I saw the photos of the Electro Festival, I was almost upset by how beautiful the location was. Next stop, Tequinox Party from 21 to 23/09, with an exam on the 24th :D

But then, what the hell does all this discussion have to do with Saw? Can’t we talk about thrillers? Where's the usual wise guy with the line "Yeah, but Seven was better"?

"You wouldn't want to suggest that these films carry a social message, would you, sepro?" And yet, yes, what a surprise. Latent voyeurism?? This is Big Brother stuff; that satisfies latent voyeurism (not mine, but that's beside the point). The message of these films is to deliver a severe critique of human society, of the advanced Western world (Cannibal Holocaust), of humanity tout court (Mondo Cane & co.). But they do it in a decidedly different manner. "Moreover, mondo movies are universally recognized as crap both artistically and technically." This phrase is pure madness. Mondo Cane is one of those avant-garde films so well made technically that, despite the macabre side, it manages to have a striking visual power even to this day. And this is despite the fact that it is largely fictional. I don't care a damn about the opinions of various mereghetti & co.; this film has always been well-received by the public, and it can't be said that the critics unanimously dismantled it; on the contrary, it enjoys a considerable number of supporters outside our territory.

And the various Mondo Cane & co. are NOT trash, and they are NOT even on the same level as Cannibal Holocaust; while the message they convey may be similar, the way in which the latter is presented to the viewer is not the same at all. I don’t know how the hell you can put everything in the same basket.

elected but are you on drugs? what isn't clear to you? isn't it obvious that equating different genders is stupid? what sense does the phrase "saw sucks, just watch cannibal holocaust instead" make? None.

What the hell does Cannibal Holocaust have to do with it, which is a neo-realist splatter film... Saw is a horror-tinged thriller, one of the best of the last decade, or rather, the last two decades. It’s completely understandable that it may not appeal to everyone, but shouting to the four winds that it’s crap (which it objectively isn’t) doesn’t earn you many points.

Alfo, the rivoli you read there is a funny fake (don't worry, it's not me, but I wouldn't mind being it) who thought it was a good idea to parody the real rivoli (the one who writes authenticated), a human case who lately hasn't been able to hold back and has (repeatedly) smashed our balls..., uh, I mean, exposed his ideas.
