I definitely back the priest. cptgaio: in my opinion, the point is that in your analysis, which is not wrong in itself, you start from the unproven assumption that this album is unlistenable and not music (but mostly provocation) because it does not adhere to the basic rules of melody, harmony, rhythm, etc. The problem, however, is that the 20th century was precisely the century of the complete overturning of traditional musical concepts (starting from classical music itself, see Stravinsky, Bartók, and then the mid-century avant-gardists, leading to jazz and rock). This is to say that to take your reasoning seriously, one would have to discard a large part of classical, jazz, and rock music from the 20th century, not just the captain. That said, I repeat that I really find it listenable and (in some ways) enjoyable, even fun and danceable! (Certainly not at the first listen, which I remember was shocking). It almost seems like you're saying: it's the equivalent of Duchamp's urinal: for me, it’s not at all like that. Moreover, when listening to it in full, there is a certain homogeneity and underlying awareness: it doesn't give me the impression of a work from someone who wakes up in the morning saying, "Now I’m going to make verses into the microphone with my friend playing random guitar and my grandfather on the pots"… that said, I agree that the worst mistake one can make is to fall into snobbery and listen to things just because they are "avant"... one should put into the player what they like. Best regards.

a touching album and your review captures it perfectly, I felt like I was listening to it while reading... well done

cptgaio: well, it’s all a matter of habit. The first time you listen to the captain, if you don’t know anything about this kind of stuff, your comment is probably the most accurate one there is... then you discover that there’s much more intellectual and unlistenable material (try listening to Twin Infinitives by Royal Trux, which Scaruffo also loves, or "Driver UFO" from the Hash 70 Reality of Dead C... and there are really many others)... you listen to some free jazz, maybe some 80s/90s noise... and you think... damn... sometimes I feel like I can hear the captain here... then you listen to the captain again and finally everything unfolds and becomes clearer :-) ... in short, I really find it listenable, but not because someone else says so...

But no, I don't agree... this is music, it makes me dance and sing... nothing but super intellectualism...
So what about Stockhausen or Driver UFO or Royal Trux...?

I didn't accuse you, I just said it seemed to me... anyway, I tried to listen to it again, I find it a bit trivial, rise and fall was something else...
