Quickly, I wouldn't want to be an attorney for lost causes, but since I'm here... I think Nick's statement wasn't as serious as you took it... I mean, basically, he was joking. Or am I mistaken? Anyway, I didn't like this album much at first (I should mention that I'm a drooling fan of R.E.M.) but gradually...

I don't understand one thing... "Miserlou" isn't written by them, right? At least, that's what it says in the review of Dick Dale's best of.

Oh wow, I'm listening to it again right now and this album is really fantastic... for the feelings it evokes, just read the review, which pretty much says it all. Congrats!

you can say that you don't like them, that you prefer other bands that, judged absolutely and not in relation to their time, are definitely more innovative and less "felt," but you cannot say that they haven't influenced the generations that came after.. damn, for example, what is the starting point of "the piper at the gates of dawn"? just listen to "matilda mother" or "flaming".. do you know what songs syd barrett played with his guitar before founding the pink? and who knows why almost all today's artists claim that among their masters are the beatles (and bob dylan, to be honest)
Soft Machine Volume One

if I tell you it's my favorite by the soft machine? I mean, I prefer it to the second one. maybe not to the third, but the third is really too monumental to listen to in one go. moon in june anyway is truly great

Following Odradek's proposals is impossible, especially for someone like me who has to think about recovering records from the past (I was born in '88, so I would say I've missed quite a bit), let alone the new releases... But how this old reel describes music, no one does it better. Sensitivity, skill in noticing and pointing out the smallest nuances, an incredible ability to pique curiosity, and a healthy dose of self-irony.
