Uh, in the little ranking game of the best, I would go with something like this (for what I remember, I'm sure I'm forgetting some important ones): 1. Sunset Boulevard 2. The Apartment 3. The Flame of Sin 4. Sabrina 5. Ace in the Hole 6. Days of Wine and Roses 7. Some Like It Hot 8. The Seven Year Itch 9. Front Page 10. Kiss Me, Stupid 11. Witness for the Prosecution 12. One, Two, Three 13. Stalag 14. Arianna 15. Not for Money... But for Love 16. Irma la Douce 17. Buddy Buddy 18. The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (well, Sherlock Holmes isn't that great, all the others...). What a career.

ah ok, so if you’re talking about the inconsistencies in the ratings considering the entire site, you and super are absolutely right (and I quite agree), but, how can I say, "welcome to debaser." :) Anyway, I took a look at the reviewed films by spleen, and judging by a first impression, he doesn’t seem like the kid who has seen ten movies in his life (I had even commented on some and I didn’t even remember...)

There's not much to understand, happy adults, vaccinated, intelligent, and aware can have different tastes. I mean, before starting with the "shame on you," "how can you give just 4," at least give the reviewer time to reply. If they had said they adore Vanzina, I would understand, but they didn't say anything (the review could have been a bit more exhaustive, actually).

Why on earth have I written that those who know have no motivations of their own or that they have said that Wilder is incompetent?

Come on, let's not have this bullshit talk. So Pippo, for example, has big issues because he hates Antonioni?

No way it's illogical and there's a big problem, don't make me the Poletti of the situation.

Alright, I wouldn't contest the vote itself (hey, it's not like he gave it a 1), it may very well be that Spleen prefers other things (and at this point I'm curious to know which films he would give the highest rating). Personally, I know several great and sincere cinema enthusiasts who have seen three times as many films as I have and who really DO NOT LIKE Sunset Boulevard and Wilder in general.

Wonderful, Wilder's greatest film, one of the greatest comedies (or is it a noir? Or both?) of all time, with perfect cinematography, one of the hallmark films in the history of cinema. What else is there to say?

nightmare, at least the first one isn’t crap at all; it’s a very well-made film. Still, I completely disagree with the idea that Halloween is the best American horror. Well made, okay, but Carpenter himself has done better in horror: The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, Cigarette Burns, maybe even Vampires. But what about Romero's trilogy? Alien? The Possessed? The previously mentioned Chainsaw? There are many more to mention, and some of the ones I’ve cited above are better in my opinion (like the same nightmare). I don’t think Halloween is even the best strictly within its subgenre...

Campbell in Army of Darkness (which is definitely the one I remember best from the trilogy) dies, a great... but what else did he do?
