Robert Aldrich Un Bacio E Una Pistola (Kiss Me Deadly)
Voto:
beautiful for the soul, once again. Great noir, Aldrich I like a lot.
Roberto Vecchioni Ipertensione

I believe this is the thing by Vecchioni that I have listened to the most. I was never particularly crazy about the professor, but I didn't mind that: Irene, and especially the poets and Pesci in my ears, is probably my absolute favorite song among everything I've heard from him. I don't think I could listen to a Vecchioni album all the way through again, but I remember those songs fondly.

The comparison with Daydream Nation is really spot on. I haven't read anything about it, but it seems inevitable to compare Niagara's scrappy voice with Kim Gordon's.

On the other side of the sonic rendezvous, I was about to ask you what you think of Destroy All Monsters, of which this is the only one I know, and here you are reviewing it! Great little record; in my opinion, there isn't a standout track like "City Slang," but it's definitely worth it. How are the other members of the group?

polè, what’s laughable here is mostly your short-term memory, since I believe this is at least the third time you complain about the fact that you don’t like my adjective ā€œboring,ā€ and I explain to you that I use ā€œboringā€ to avoid going on long-winded tangents, while still noting that for a director wanting to make a film purely for entertainment, making a boring film does matter. I find Halloween to be a rather banal film, well-shot but with no great ambitions other than to entertain, something that other slashers (and other Carpenter films, starting with The Thing) have managed to do better. Heavily overrated, and in my opinion it is overrated precisely because for a long time it was attributed merits it did not have by a criticism that did not know the genre well. It was said to be the first slasher, it was said to use the camera innovatively, forgetting films like Bava’s Reazione a catena and especially Natale rosso sangue, from which it heavily draws. Then those films were rediscovered, but in the meantime Halloween has retained its fame.

Pure shit. I would have never said it, never.

About Hawks' film: yes, agreed, the metaphor of the Cold War that isn't present in Carpenter's is there, but frankly, how can I put it, it’s just not enough for me. They are two profoundly different films, and aside from the special effects (which, I must say, were the thing I liked the least about the film), there’s an atmosphere and a sense of threat that is completely missing in Hawks' film.

It's not true that it always ranks among the best science fiction films part 2, and even if it did, Super, I warn you that in a recent ranking made by the English on the best films of the genre, ahead of various 2001, Solaris, Blade Runner, Stalker, Brazil, and a bunch of others, it came out on top... Serenity. Serenity, the greatest science fiction film of all time according to the English, if you believe that, a little nerdy blockbuster that might appeal to comic book man. I mean, just watch Serenity (if you want to hurt yourself) and you realize that these rankings are indeed useful, but they often don't mean much.

Ah well, I also remain suspicious, but if it happens, I think I'll give it a glance.
