Elio e le Storie Tese Eat The Phikis

Easy Skiantos by Monotono and Kinotto was a great band whose lyrics made little sense but had a lot of meaning: their rhymes, forced at all costs, and ostentatiously banal riffs were not only a brilliant critique of serious intellectualism and the arrogance of many bands, but also a "praise of madness". In short, the term "demential" is not at all something derogatory; in fact, as a group, they lost all value when they switched to social themes, with "calpesta il paralitico" or "meglio un figlio ladro che un figlio frocio"... definitely rhetorical. Now they are embarrassing. Elio is much lighter and limits himself to putting together existing styles, sometimes ostentatiously showcasing his virtuosity, but they still have class, even as they play with kitsch. As for Cesareo, I can’t stand him; his style is absurdly banal, but Tanica is great, and their albums always make me laugh, which is no small feat, just like the same reason applies to a cartoon like The Simpsons.

Why did I put Lou in quotation marks?

Come on, man, you're exaggerating a bit... after all, a few days ago you told me you appreciated the early Vasco, and I mostly agreed, but even there the sound is quite rough... it seems like you’re almost blinded by hate for this guy ;) ... and then, the themes of Springsteen may seem rhetorical and populist to you, but even Lou Reed's "Dirty Boulevard" hangs around that area. In short, you're right about a lot of things, but to put him on the same level as that wandering minstrel Spears is a whole different story...

oh my god, a cross between Codeine, Dirty Three, and Red House Painters must be something galactic... you mentioned three bands I love to madness... for Lukin, YOU MUST have Dirty Three, an exceptional trio of violin, guitar, and drums... it must be a rather cheerful record... beautiful review, especially for its conciseness (provided you know the bands, though) congratulations

Perhaps we don’t agree on what is called rock: I, who dislike definitions (I once found a fanzine where a band was categorized as “romantic death'n'roll,” what is that, Elvis Presley singing in growl "love me tender? come on..) throw a bit of everything into the mix, Velvet, Amon Tobin, Autechre, Genesis, Fear Factory, which, despite their vast differences, have a common root. Regarding Springsteen, it’s true that sometimes his sound is quite sloppy, and it’s also true that he hasn’t invented anything, but I don’t know if you’re familiar with it, but an acoustic piece like "Stolen Car" from River is on par with the best of Red House Painters or Nick Drake or Smog or whoever you want, it’s not all throwaway, come on.. as for the technique of the Velvet… by technique, I simply mean the skill with the instrument, and they, aside from Cale, were pretty subpar, just look at Moe Tucker, originality is a different discussion.

Giada, I think you're as fake as a counterfeit coin.

Be Caz, for the rock album without guitars, go tell that to Morphine, and for technique at all costs, turn to the Velvet Underground...

and they can be too melodramatic... well written review, but I don’t agree with it.

The first time I heard "Paranoid Android" on MTV or Videomusic, it seemed like a masterpiece to me. And compared to ninety percent of what’s on TV, it still is. However, I was just a kid back then and knew very few bands. Now I find it a naive record in its very self-indulgent "experiments," with rather simplistic melodies, and Radiohead a band heavily hyped by magazines that strive to peddle idols at any cost.
