Francesco Guccini L'isola non trovata
Voto:
Some songs, above all the brother, are beautiful. I am very fascinated by Guccini's relationship with America viewed as Atlantis, which, however, through a journey of disillusionment in many beautiful songs, 100 Pennsylvania, a song of different situations, Antenor, Argentina, will culminate in Amerigo (which I consider Guccini's most beautiful song), in that bitterly sweet "America was a hernia."
That journey begins here, with the horizon of Kd and especially with "L'isola non trovata," where it is already known that that idea of the promised land is an illusion, because "that island wasn’t there, and no one ever found it." And so, years later, it still manages to move me deeply.

For me, it's one of the most overrated albums of all time. Don't get me wrong, Leone is amazing on the keyboard, even though listening to ten minutes of Emerson-like passages gets a bit tedious for me, but he's good. Then there's the atmosphere, and let's not forget the historical importance :DD. But that voice... damn, such an ugly voice, singing a ridiculous text that fits with the music like a living person in a coffin. I mean, if instead of singing they had just put a really loud fart on all the tracks, the effect would have been more elegant.

Dear Antonio (my namesake, but how many Antonios are there on Debaser?), take my comment about Busnello for what it is, a joke. I know practically nothing about his life; all I know is that he was considered a giant of Italian jazz and that he joined Area when he was twice the age of the rest of the group. Hence the joke, but I didn't know things had gone so badly for him, nor that he had passed away. However, I’ll tell you that the little I know about Busnello (Arbeit, and... that's it) is enough for me to regard him as a great artist on par with Senese, so maximum respect. In fact, if you know of any good albums featuring him, I would really love to listen to them.

Yes, but don't forget that Busnello left the area to sing at Sanremo together with Jo Squillo and Sabrina Salerno. He was in the backstage, then when the two sang "oltre le gambe c'è di più," Busnello would jump out performing a solo of 240 Km from Izmir because, given his age, he was completely out of it. After the performance, all three would go to Mangoni's house to have orgies, with the old Pagani Fariselli Mangoni record playing in the background.

Maybe you’re referring to some different album, even though Pagani is there, because it’s not a melodic record. I would say World music, close to the things of Gerontocrazia. It’s not essential, but better than a lot of Italian prog (by the way, after a long time since you mentioned it, I got Arti+Mestieri, and Furio Chirico is indeed amazing, plus Articolazioni is a great track).
