I agree, No Tears is one of those sick and nocturnal tracks that I absolutely love. Great piece.

The tuxedomoon are no longer experimental, dark, and complex; for the few albums I have (Half Mute, Desire, and Ghost Sonata), they remain very elegant. Personally, I prefer them by far to Television, even though they share very little in common, aside from a mutual belonging to the new wave. Essential, one of those bands that immensely deserve more visibility.

Pure shit. Sorry, but unfortunately I had to endure it (and I still have to endure it against my will). I don’t remember just a couple of songs, but the rest really hurts.

"I'm listening to it again now E(and) for that handful..." I slipped up with an accent.

Logic, the important thing is knowing what to expect. If I read a review by Caz, or by Zion, or even by Francis, I know what to expect and what their rating means. Odra has always been stingy with high ratings, using the same arguments I do, namely evaluating albums with as much coldness as possible. At least, this was my idea. So I was surprised by the explicit admission of having voted with nostalgia in mind. To be clear, I'm listening to the album again now, and for that handful of world music listens I have, it doesn’t sound outdated at all. I didn’t contest the rating, I was just surprised that Odradek gave a sentimental score.

Yes, yes, but the rating is always in relation to something else, using different criteria: for one, extreme objectivity; for another, an added value of nostalgia; for another, the value of myth; for another, because everyone gives it a 5 and I don’t... in short, one can get lost. Especially since there are so many reviews here. Ten 5s from you, ten 5s from Hal, ten 5s from Airone, ten 5s from Ege, and it’s no longer a question of having money; it becomes a matter that even with wild downloads, you don’t have time to listen and you MUST choose. Above all, from the best reviewers (and there’s no flattery here), I hope for a minimum of consistency in the ratings. Otherwise, they really are useless. No one has absolute truths in their pocket, of course, but a standard is needed.

"In this case, the vote goes to the memory, the attitude, the uniqueness, and the anticipation of world music. I'm not attracted to charts, but given the reevaluation of some junk on DeB's pages, even in these days, let's say that if those collect a lot of 4s or 5s, this one would be worth a 10." Yes, I understood that it was a nostalgic vote. The album, moreover, is beautiful, and the band deserves a lot, but since I know that you care about it in some way, I ask you: is it right to give a vote based on memories? To confuse another 5 given like that with the other 5s (no reference to the album in question, let it be clear; by the way, it was a real surprise to find such a gem of world music in Italy)? Then everyone does what they want, but giving 5 to everything means taking away a chance for choice. But you already know that.

I had listened to it after you pointed it out to me somewhere, and it was a lovely surprise, definitely one of the most convincing albums from that period in Italy. Voting is out of the question since I've heard it too little (for now), but it definitely deserves more recognition than many well-known small records and groups.

The whole story of grandeur is kind of amusing, I mean we have something concrete—mafia, mandolin, pizza—what do they have? Frog’s hunger and cheeses and grandeur.
