Curiosity: the cover photo of the album "Lightbulb Sun" by Porcupine Tree is his. A considerable piece of work, but I still prefer the cold synthesis of "Metamatic". Zion, I'm with you: "On The plaza, we're dancing slowly lit like photographs...."

The album is beautiful; in my opinion, it's the best one in the discography of the band Vescovi. We should re-evaluate these things.....

I apologize to the reviewer for a typo that I hope most have noticed: The "Apples & Oranges" I mentioned, due to a "fruit and vegetable" error (.....) should be read as "Oranges & Lemons"...... sorry! Merry Christmas!
Porcupine Tree On The Sunday Of Life

There is some truth in what Adriano says and also in what Luca claims. In both cases, there is a clear impression of speaking with two people who have chewed through a good amount of music, and of good quality, which is undoubtedly a comforting fact. The positions are different only due to personal tastes and different inner explorations. I believe Dream Theater are not just an updated and "corrected" version of ELP; they are an unusual and happy melting pot of trends developed in the last thirty years, with a dose of hyper-technicality that makes the group particularly attractive. Porcupine, perhaps, are less "technical" but more visionary, imaginative, "explorers" of the allure of sounds. That there is nothing genuinely new in either group is absolutely certain. But for the "new" (assuming it is truly new), I personally think one would need to look elsewhere. I have been following the Nordic-Scandinavian scene for some time now, and it seems something has shifted there. The names? Well... Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft, Eivind Aarset, Jon Balke... Was it true glory? ...To future generations the difficult verdict. Merry Christmas to you guys!!

@Tom: At first, I shared your opinion about Morgan's "chances" and the purpose of the operation. I repeat: after listening to him, I can only reaffirm the enormity of Faber's work. However, I wouldn't frankly deny a recognition and appreciation for Morgan. Give it a try. Merry Christmas!

Frankly, Manticore, I can't fully disagree with your point of view. More than anything, I would avoid doing it out of prejudice. I mean, if living in the past is a safe refuge, musically speaking, there are definitely valid reasons to continue living in the present as well. Even though it has already been explored from every angle, music continues to astonish with its intrinsic ability to reinvent, reshape, and renew itself. Perhaps the creative currents of today are not as numerous as in the past, but there are surely paths taken by "recent" musicians that are absolutely worth listening to and evaluating with seriousness and attention. Certainly, swimming only in rock and limiting oneself to this form of expression can be challenging, but broadening one's horizons for a true lover of musical expression is, I believe, essential. Warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas!!

It is indeed a nice profile, well-documented historically, precise, and written with balance by enrybaxx, who seems to be no stranger to these "exploits." The considerations on the characteristics of the group seem correct and accurate to me. They may have had some grandiose delusions, but that's that. Personally, I find that this first work still has (and this is perfectly normal) some echoes of beat sounds, but that does not detract from the quality of the proposal. Perhaps at times it may seem a bit dated, but that's more than forgivable. Personally, I find "Time Of Change" (but on drums, there was that monster Furio Chirico) to be their most beautiful and "forward" work. But that’s just an impression that doesn’t intend to hold any claims. Also, "Caronte," as Beatboy writes, or "Atlantide" aren’t bad. Merry Christmas enrybaxx, and congratulations!

Moderate review for one of the great (and highly underrated) bands of the British rock scene influenced by the Beatles over the last thirty years. The reviewer is right about the trilogy of CDs mentioned at the end. For an accurate idea of the group, I'd say they are quite ideal. Personally, I would add "Apples & Oranges," but in reality, the entire body of work by Partridge and Moulding is truly a valuable treasure. Merry Christmas to everyone !!

I had seen this record on the shelves and I confess it didn't seem to give off a good smell. Reading Manalishi, I would say I wasn't wrong. After all, I don't know how much money Anderson has left with all that he must have squandered.... And he has to give Christmas presents too, right?! Merry Christmas to Manalishi, Roby 86, DaveJonGilmour, Bjork, Beatboy, Pibroch, and of course to all the others too! Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year!!
