I’ll briefly insert myself to congratulate the majority of the posts that came after mine (useless, but hey, who cares...!) on September 9th. Those that arrived afterward have truly been a treasure trove of hearty, unexpected laughter with my (those few that are left) more or less wide teeth. Especially since it's perfectly clear that no one gives a damn anymore about Beck or "Modern Guilt," and things have taken a turn down a couple of paths, at least for me, that are hilarious. Oh well. What can be found in this thread is a modus vivendi and.... "parlandi" of the modern, coded, foul-mouthed, and amusing (at least in this case) Italian youth. I believe I would fall among the "father-minkia." In fact, I'm sure that the oldest of my two sons is seriously considering it by now. Assuming he isn’t contemplating putting me in the fridge after showing me how he knows how to use his new knife. A warm greeting to Terry. Don’t break yourself too much. We’ll need you whole for the future. There’s so much good meat there!! Bye.

I’ll skip over the boring and obsessive refrain of Punisher. I’ll just invite him to concretely follow up on the idea, as he has tried to imply, that if he were Metheny, he would opt for different choices. Fine, let him do it if he is a serious person and let us know, hear, and see what he is truly capable of. For the rest, which is by far noteworthy for me, I greet the revived uxo (Grussgott!) and that great music lover, Omaha (hi, man!). I haven’t had the chance yet, nor did I know about the release of this EP, to listen to the recent Metheny, and we’ll see what we can do. Uxo, you’ve certainly sparked a desire in me, even though we agree on the partial disappointment of the brother in the studio on this work. Let it be clear, this does not shift my attention or respect for the guitarist from Missouri by even a micron. Thank you for the heads-up. Uxo: correct form, impeccable word choice, and satisfying content, but I know you can express more and better. However, I forgive you (mom! how kind I am…) because you would be a precious re-entry and Debaser, which, in my opinion, needs solid and talented characters like you. Catch you later.

....ah, and then I have a blast reading the comments from beautiful Terry who, sly and amused, never misses an opportunity to point out this or that curious or bizarre behavior of the boys. Yay! Hi Terry. And hi Gustavotanz for hosting us. And also to Punisher who, as I remember, is never satisfied with anything. Holy crap! I said a swear word. God will surely punish me.

After reading the story about "scientology," I, who usually am (or believe I am) a good guy (yeah, maybe the other day....) spontaneously thought, "NO FUCKING WAY!" But I didn't actually say the bad word because then Mom would hit me; I just thought it (so I don't go to hell). However, I really don't like this story. I was about to write that Gustavo and I have completely opposing musical tastes (from his list) but at least we agree on this, and instead, I find out that the nice Hansen is doing crazy stuff with the scientologists. I'll have to reconsider a couple of things. Anyway, we'll see what to do with "Modern Guilt," while still acknowledging Tanzerino's biased enthusiasm. The rest of Beck, ALL of it ("Odelay" and "Guero" especially), is like a nice warm jam-filled doughnut in the morning at 8:45.

I can only be pleased about this, as "Released," despite its charm, is not exactly the same thing. You know, not all of the group's universe has shone with an intense light like in the case of "Waves." The characteristic of a deep harmonic sense and lightness (in its most positive connotation) in serenity is a constant throughout the entire work of Field & Duhig, but with moments that, as is often obvious, are more or less successful. When I referred to the period associated with the "Island" label in my review, I was talking about that era, which I believe to be the brightest and most creatively fertile (yes, with a touch of what is now called "prog"). If you really care, I still invite you to listen to THAT period with the related 4 albums ("Floating World" - "Waves" - "Kites" and "Way Of The Sun"). I also have a passion for another album of theirs (released for Vertigo) called "Last Autumn's Dream," which, even though it features vocals, retains their characteristic lines intact. Jade Warrior, mind you, isn't essential or unmissable, but simply a somewhat hidden "beach" where you can still dream with your eyes wide open. Since it seems to me that you have ears well attuned to the multiplicity and diversity of sound approaches, I believe you should delve deeper. Or at least give it a try. A warm and cordial greeting to you!

Yes, it's Terry Kath. About the accidental suicide, to be honest, it's a teenage reminiscence. Believe me Ajeje, I wouldn't bet my life on it, but usually I have a pretty good memory (at least for music). Please, now listen to "If you leave me now" by Chicago (I believe it's from 1979), and tell me in your heart what you think....... .

I know, but misunderstandings often happen while we are so caught up in pursuing a goal that we fail to realize we are making two conflicting arguments without understanding the terms of the point itself. After all, we are always human beings prone to error. ...The important thing is to understand each other... and it seems to me that we do, right?!

Thank you, Acqualife.....but Punisher, believe me, he's a really tough nut. Let him have his beliefs and/or tastes. There’s really no problem, believe me. Regards.

It's curious that after so long someone has taken an interest in this work, which I still love. Obviously, rabbitstew wanted to inform himself about the reviewer before diving into the album, and that's perfectly legitimate. We may not quite be in the realm of Volta, but, as they say, "Variety is the spice of life." Let me know, rabbitstew, because here there is much peace and serenity, and not the inner struggles and devastating conflicts of Cedric and Omar.
