Led Zeppelin For Badgeholders Only (Live At L.A Forum, 6.23.77)

I don’t want to seem inappropriate by inserting myself transversely into the exchange of opinions between Hardrock92 and The Spirit; let me preface this by saying that I’m not exactly young, and as a music lover and (former) guitarist, I’ve surpassed thirty-five springs and have no pretensions of teaching anything to anyone. However, I suppose that in your discussion, a good position, as often happens, lies in a balance of what you both argue. I mean, I imagine it’s difficult to weigh Iommi, Lemmy, or Page (or even Blackmore, if you like) and try to “prove” that one is better than the other... or carries more weight. If, however, there’s a bias that the Zeppelin are indigestible to The Spirit, then things get even more complicated. The history of solos, moreover, if you allow me, should be somewhat scaled back; while it’s true that in rock (and even more so in jazz), the subject of “solos” is a sign of freshness, inventiveness, technique, and personality, it is also true that with the grueling rhythms of rock, it’s possible for Page, Slash, Jeff Beck, or whoever you want, to flop maybe ten nights in a year, and then... people wonder at disappointing performances and try to prove the inconsistency of this or that guitarist or musician. It should be noted that these are men, and some nights they are better than others, so it can happen that they have one or more "bad" nights. I have seen hundreds of concerts in my life, and many times I have witnessed really disappointing performances from "super" musicians. That said, those nights shouldn’t necessarily be taken into account; do you understand what I mean? I apologize for the length and wish you a 2009 rich with new experiences and... not just rock!

Of course, Beppe, I always manage to catch you commenting on something ninety times out of a hundred, right? :-) Happy 2009!

Hi Uxo. Double occasion to get in touch again, since it's New Year's Eve and it's the last album I bought this year, just tonight. I didn't really know anything about it and your review completely slipped my mind. Everything seems fine, I briefly previewed it in the store, so....... Happy New Year and thanks for your write-up!

From a debaser anthology. For me, TraumaCronico wins the end-of-year medal. I've met many Hendrixians, but he beats them all! :)

Sorry Donnie. With a rating like that for the album and a comment like yours (despite the avatar), it didn't seem very clear. :)

Indeed, a nice review of "Astrolabio," which I also consider superior, wouldn't be bad. Anyway, a well-made essential profile without frills on one of the great local bands from the lost '70s. One question: is it really true that "Bambi" Fossati is Ivano's brother? ... that would be news to me... .
Mike Stern Live Villa Celimontana

Well, I’m glad for the reviewer who enjoyed a Stern concert so much. Frankly, I don’t appreciate him as much anymore. After following him for twenty-five years (and having seen and/or heard him with Davis, Chambers, Brecker, Berg, Perowsky, etc.), he's become a bit dull. Unmistakable sound, of course, some pleasant things, but his style is terribly repetitive and predictable. I also heard him on the latest Yellowjackets (not bad), but sadly, the least inspiring soloist is still him. What a shame. His first work ("Upside Downside") was truly a great chapter of fusion.
Blackfield Live In NYC (dvd)

A good review. Blackfield is the simpler side of Wilson, which doesn’t mean that his contribution to this “two” formula should be underestimated. The vocal harmonies and the lovely linearity of the song-form compositions are the strengths of the project; the somewhat late romantic or, if you will, decadent atmospheres then add that slightly “noir” aura that fascinates and saddens. The moods that follow are well described by the reviewer. This DVD is a good document; however, I consider their second work on CD a bit of a misstep after their beautiful debut. Curious is Geffen’s figure in the role of the “damned poet”...

Well, what can I say..... I'm absolutely in tears over my sister Petronilla's cataleptic figure. Poor thing, it's true, I was so boring that she couldn't take it anymore and I had to take her to Montecitorio to see if I could wake her up. Then I found out that there, via uairles, she managed to connect with debaser because she wanted to read the fencing of the guitarist of pinch fluà. But she found mister popò (at least she told me that a friend of hers says it means that in English, who knows) writing some really silly stuff that was so, so funny. (hahaha, how hilarious!) and then she told me that I would be of wine. But that's not true! Even if I say a bunch of useless things I still don't deserve this. Greetings from my sister to the friend shit (mmhh what a strange smell...) and also to the anthology of rock! bye bye!! Keep writing, I recommend!!
