@Vellutogrigio: not to pry into your business, but have you ever had the chance to see WR live with Pastorius? Have you ever read the comments from fellow bass players (and others) about the figure of Pastorius? Do you have knowledge of musical scores? Or harmony, melody, and rhythm at a professional level? Do you think you have realized the musical significance (or lack thereof) of Jaco Pastorius in the music culture of the 20th century? I kindly await your responses: I'm also expecting comments from Symbad, of course.

First of all, I feel "reassured": Symbad is back! But where the hell have you been?! It's a real pleasure to read you again. I'm reassured because Symbad's eye and ear have always been a source of information and interesting reflections for me. You pointed out well in this case the placement matrix of Zawinul's group and the possible analogy with McLaughlin's Mahavishnu. It should indeed be emphasized—and I think this is not of negligible importance—that despite both formations working within a new language of jazz (a language that is native to the USA, and both leaders worked with Miles), they went on to contaminate this language right where its roots were born, even though both Zawinul and McLaughlin were natives of Europe with European culture and origins. The cultural contamination, as I've mentioned before, arose thanks to this exchange of cultures brought by the musicians of the two (or more than two?) ensembles; this logically generated a 360-degree contamination. Today, we still experience its effects.

I don't feel inclined to disagree with the overall stance of the review by vellutogrigio as it is balanced and focused on the content, above all. The work is indeed one of the lesser-known ones in the discography of Zawinul and his colleagues, and personally, it is not among the most recommendable. However, the extraordinary instrumental vigor of a formidable quartet that was absolutely unparalleled at the time remains. A separate chapter could be dedicated to the genius of Jaco Pastorius. Frankly, I was disappointed to see in this review the spotlight on him only regarding the three points (which are true) mentioned. I would like to suggest to anyone wanting to learn more about this extraordinary character the reading of "Jaco Pastorius: La straordinaria e tragica vita del più grande bassista del mondo" - Bill Milkowski - Stampa alternativa - Euro 12.39.

In my opinion, we are not in the shape (in every sense) of "Guero," but Beck Hansen has delivered another beautiful piece of contemporary music; rich in nuances, trends, styles, freshness, and craziness. Let's hope he doesn't give up.

I am pleased to return to say a few words about this work. I would exclude, I repeat, that we are facing the most mature work of prog....etc., etc., but after having listened to it again recently, I can agree that it is quite a successful piece and representative of the period in which it was released. It is a standalone work in the BMS discography, both in terms of atmospheres and moods. If nothing else, it's worth noting the absence of Di Giacomo's voice. It was wonderful to rediscover it, and I take this opportunity to warmly recommend it to aficionados of the genre.

Dear Dante, know that I had no doubts about your choices between titties and dischis. I take pleasure in this because I think we are more than just two. We are animals, yes, but we are also ravenous. :) Humbly, I thank you for the akkulturato (even though it's not true....). All your kindness. :))

Update: I inform the people who contributed to the "dynamic" creation of this page with comments and impressions that the releases of the four albums mentioned in my last post are hitting the market (for the first time) and are being sold individually. Previously, as mentioned, they were only available as a box set. This release fills a decades-long gap. I strongly encourage those interested not to miss the opportunity. The label is virtually (at least to me) unknown, and I fear that these titles may quickly and once again go out of print. I had the chance to hold them in my hands, and the publications look really well made. Regards.

@Zaireeka: you are not a fool, and your recent comments and reflections prove it. Also know that I appreciated the "flight" — pindaric or à la Borges — that you were trying to emulate with this type of "free association": but it was probably the setting that wasn't appropriate. No matter, I love both the group and the album, and my vote on the main issue (which is ultimately the final goal) was clearly expressed from the beginning. I take this opportunity to inform you that an "underground" label has recently reissued (after many long years of being "out of print") and is regularly distributing the 4 (splendid) albums by Jade Warrior from the Islands label period; with beautiful packaging and remastering to accompany them, "Floating World", "Kites", "Waves", and "Way Of The Sun" have been released. It goes without saying that they are absolutely unmissable.
