I'm already at calling all the station, I feel like soaking up all the dramatic soap opera of Genesis. I'm not kidding.

In my opinion, yes, although the outcome of Hotel is even worse than that of A.R. I don't mean to say that Hotel is the second part of A.R.; quite the opposite. Hotel, besides being different, has more souls, it’s more heterogeneous, but it is almost entirely flawed (and barren). A.R., on the other hand, could have been a redeemable album; it just needed a few adjustments... I just wanted to point out that among Hotel's flaws, there is also the recurrence of some defects already present in A.R.

Have you seen Odradek? We've become the odd couple, village priests too! If you feel like it, let's do a Don Camillo and the other Don Peppone, are you in? The Last Poets are excellent.

You can tell he has this thing... but it was the first time he revealed it in his music career. Good advice anyway.

Honestly, this album seems like more of a misstep. Right after that crisis you mentioned, Moby attempts for the first time to abandon tighter dance and picks up a guitar and microphone. It's a shame because his guitar technique is quite enjoyable, but his voice here is truly a low blow. Moby seems angry yet intimidated at the same time when shouting out his problems, and the subdued vocals often cause the entire song to sink along with it. For Moby, it was such a commercial disaster that to recover, he decided to come up with a grand move: returning to his old dance-sampling genre and integrating it with soul-gospel singing, that is, a vocal form that had the power and expressiveness that his voice seemed to lack. After the triumphs of Play, Moby began to entertain the idea of singing his own songs again; in 18, he treaded carefully, and the results were quite good. The confidence gained from this recent success led him to fully unleash his aspirations as a singer/guitarist: he exposed himself, repeating and even worsening the mistakes of Animal Rights. It’s clear that these great musicians have a really short memory...

Odradek, we understand each other. I’m waiting for your next review.

Despite this, I hope that Italian rappers keep trying, improving, and holding on despite the temptations of commercial conversion to neffa. Maybe I could even go see a hip-hop concert (a big claim, but after this Berlusconi slogan).

As far as my opinion is concerned, I believe it is disproportionate and out of place to invoke - in defense of the dignity of today's rap (and possibly Italian rap) - the pioneers of the genre, the founding fathers who created the first tracks from which various offshoots evolved. Unfortunately, it seems to me that there is very little old school rap left in today’s h-h. It's like, if someone insults you, the Interpol, what sense does it make to protect them by bringing up Joy Division? To each their own time, their own era, their own music, regardless of the roots. As for my tastes, I think that rap has not been an evolution of black music. If anything, it has been a continuation; rather, it has been a DEevolution. I mean, I honestly don’t believe that Nas or Run DMC are the worthy evolution of Stevie Wonder or the Funkadelic. Nonetheless, that doesn’t stop me from appreciating them. For Italy, the rap phenomenon sometimes falls victim to the usual penalties of our homegrown scene. Just as the beat of the Equipe 84 didn’t hold a candle to the Beatles or the Animals (not even the Monkees), the same can be said for many Italian Tupacs.

I'm sorry, don't take it personally, but you really seem out of your minds to me. You’re attacking each other for no reason on an internet page, bringing up fascism, abortions, dicks in the asses of black guys, shit and sugar, sisters and hookups, Pink Floyd and Wu Tang Clan... be grateful that this site allows you space for comments at the bottom of reviews, which is something to value, as it’s rare. It seems so pointless to dirty these pages with useless comments; you could go to a chat, call yourselves one Roger Waters and the other Ol' Dirty Bastard, and the festival of insults would begin. It’s just as trivial to celebrate other universally appreciated records like Achtung Baby or Abbey Road with gratuitous and superfluous comments as it is senseless to fight over reviews regarding genres that you either love or hate. It’s pointless to go on a metal review and say "this album is shit, burn metalheads and listen to Nick Drake," it's nonsense to come here and insult our local rappers. De Gustibus...
