Nirvana Nevermind

I could say a lot of things, I’ve read plenty of nonsense and I’m disappointed by those who compare Metallica, Alice in Chains and Nirvana. A song like "Territorial Pissing" has never been written by the Ramones in 25 years!!! If anyone could emulate the compositional genius of Lou Reed or John Lennon, it was Kurt: talking about the album is one thing (anyone can do that), but discussing those times, which alas, will never return, is another; guys, what do you want me to say, listen to the Hives, the Libertines, and those rubbish Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I remind you that Pat Smear, guitarist of the unforgettable Germs, played live with Nirvana, and that’s not a coincidence: Nirvana is catharsis, annihilation of the self, and the Germs (better, Darby Crash) did just that. The fact that many have profited from Nirvana (The Assassinating Whore above all) is another matter.
I just want to add one thing: throughout the '80s, when year-end playlists were made, the top 50 albums of the year included ONLY masterpieces (see Rockerilla), can we say the same from 1991 to today? Two years ago, album of the year "Interpol" and "Sigur Ros" (sic), last year who, the "Libertines" or "Franz Ferdinand" (double sic). Everyone has to live in their own time, but let's not sully the past... Kurt is dead (MURDERED), long live Kurt.

It's true, this remains the non plus ultra of S.Y., and not just musically; there’s something ā€œclassicā€ about these notes, and ā€œTeenage Riotā€ will remain the anthem of a generation. And don't make comparisons with the rest of the production, please.
Mudhoney Superfuzz Bigmuff plus Early Singles

Well, good job, encore. For anyone interested in the early grunge scene, I recommend the double compilation "SubPop200," which features, alongside MudHoney, perhaps the very first song by Nirvana and other gems from Green River, Soundgarden, and many more.
