Flaming Lips Telepathic Surgery
Voto:
To me, Motorpsycho are what the Flaming Lips should have continued to be. Thank you for the 4.

Any comment on the Censor/Punisher at this point is superfluous: Long live the Italy of the Punishers.
CCCP - Fedeli alla linea 1964-1985. Affinità-divergenze fra il compagno Togliatti e noi...

The fact remains that after twenty years, the CCCP still manages, perhaps even more so, to spark controversies and, more importantly, to make people think. Christ, have you seen the comments page? Soon we’ll turn it into a book…
I wanted to say that this is the most important album in the Italian music scene of the last 20 years and the previous 10. It saddens me to see that there are still some who analyze communism as a Soviet, North Korean, or Cuban phenomenon. Those are all aberrations; history is not a gala dinner, and come on, saying that the application of communism would make us all equal hasn’t even been said by Big Brother. Addavenì Peppone

I almost forgot, just to avoid misunderstandings: I just reviewed "Telepathic Surgery" by the Flaming Lips (by the way, does The Punisher even know who the F.L. are?), I go crazy for Mothorpsycho and I grew up on Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but don’t touch the Stone Roses, Charlatans, and similar bands (Happy Mondays at the top): music is either beautiful or ugly but, more importantly, what matters is what you like, my dear Punisher, who would be better defined as Censor. Then we complain that we have Berlusconi... but you deserve Berlusconi... Addavenì Peppone.

I'm only just reading this review now and I have to say that when it comes to musical myopia, The Punisher could very well be Luzzatto Fegiz. Christ, this is the most important record for the rock scene in the last 5 years, iconic (and I'm not the one saying it), made amidst a thousand difficulties (okay, only those who can get the pears, I agree, but Billie Holiday had her share too, along with Bob Dylan, Janis, and you know who else). This album is more than just an album: it’s a sign of the times. What the hell is MTV if the Libs barely get played on Radio One? Has anyone ever seen the performance at Reading Festival that year, with Pete in jail and the crowd in a frenzy? It’s true that it all feels like something you've heard before, but can anyone tell me who has recently written anything even close in beauty to "Music When the Lights Go Out"? The essence of the album is right there: we're sending everything to hell but we're doing it with style, recording in France and even though we can't see each other anymore, we still do it, indeed, the whole album is just this, Carl and Pete like Tom and Jerry, and "What Became of the Likely Lads" is their spiritual testament. Can anyone tell me how many could write half the tracks (and not even the best ones) that the Libs have written in three years in a career? Screw it, you deserve the bleakness of our times. I'll stop here as I won't waste space. Addavenì Peppone...

I would say we can consider the thread finished.

I would like to have the honor of being among the founders of the superfanatic club of the Clash, but we can also create one for Nirvana, Tuxedomoon, Joy Division, and a few others (let's NEVER forget the Germs).

A RATHER MEAGER REVIEW FOR THE BEST ALBUM OF MODERN FOLK MUSIC.
As someone wrote long ago (Federico Guglielmi), who the hell are Jagger-Richards, Lennon-McCartney, Morrissey-Marr? London Calling is still very relevant and will remain so for a long time... the Clash were 50 years ahead in spirit, attitude, and output.
Mr. Manu Chao should say a prayer every morning at the altar of the Clash, REVOLUTion rock... IS A BRAND NEW ROCK... THANK YOU CLASH, YOU HAVE SAVED MANY LIVES, INCLUDING MINE.
PS I hope to find the time to review this album sooner or later.

I would have preferred it to be "Ortodossia" or "Affinità..." representing the group. Have you heard anything more original than CCCP in Italy in the last 20 years?
