On the contrary.. it seems to me like a really good review..! Of course.. I agree with you on the technical issue: it doesn't discuss it! But at least.. it explains and supports the criticisms! It doesn’t just say: "BONO SHIT," "U2 SHIT" without elaborating.. like most people do..!
As for your examples.. well.. the "SUCCESS" or "SALES" factor.. etc.. cannot absolutely be taken as a benchmark..! The success of a band has many variables: 1) the publicity the band has (just think of BONO who is everywhere..)! 2) how much the record label invests to promote them around the world (a lot indeed..)! Etc.. etc.. etc..! You can't say that a group is valid just because they sell and are successful..! The best artists could very well be your neighbor or an uncle of mine who knows no one..! How do you know?
P.S.: reinventing themselves?? The U2?? I agree about the album POP which is an experimentation..! But then.. where’s the reinvention?? The last 2 albums are a jumble of little songs à la SPANDAU BALLET and nothing more! Little songs with a nice rhythm.. catchy.. chart material after all..! And don’t deny it! What are WALK ON, STUCK IN A MOMENT, ELEVATION, SWEETEST THING (the previous album..), etc..??

Number 1: I came out with BONO's voice only now... because THANKFULLY it was broadcasted live! And so under everyone's eyes!!! I know U2 even live (because I’m not someone who criticizes without reason... rather, I do my research, go to concerts, and buy albums like this one... even if I end up not liking them..)! In the last 4-5 years, BONO's voice has been like this! He’s now voiceless..!
