Indeed, there were the quotation marks. Every time the part CALL ME comes on, I jump up and start dancing, no matter what I’m doing! Even Rapture is amazing, and Atomic isn’t bad either. I talked about pop dance degenerations a bit broadly because, in fact, there’s not much that connects the disco-third world twist of Remain In Light (and the more purely dance vibe of Speaking in Tongues) to the more polished atmospheres (compared to its early days) of Wave by Patti Smith. I’ve always had a great respect for disco music and have always been fascinated by the meeting of this and new wave. Have you ever heard the Contortions of James Chance, enea?

point 1: have you heard "cccp"? "curami"? "allarme" (my favorite)? "trafitto"? point 2: The fact that an album hasn’t influenced a multitude of epigones doesn’t diminish its greatness (the history of rock is full of wonderful albums that influenced no one - the so-called dead branches) point 3: the fact that you've never read about this album as a masterpiece, -how to say?- is only relevant to you... everyone chooses their own readings, their own sources of information wherever and however they see fit. It’s far from my intention to compare Black Sabbath (I’ve always really liked them) to CCCP; we were talking about covers before, then you came out with "keep the Sabbath out of reviews of miserable little records like this"...

But really, can you imagine me thinking there’s anything dangerous about any cover!!! "Leave the Sabbaths out of reviews of miserable little records like this." Aside from the fact that I talk about whatever the hell I want, wherever and however the hell I want (post-punk pride :-))... HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY KNOW THIS IS A SHIT RECORD IF YOU’VE NEVER HEARD IT????

I don't know, we need to see how much crap the detergent manufacturers in question have dumped into the rivers over the last thirty years...

Okay, I admit my ignorance in metal (I’m not really fond of the genre...), and I know/appreciate the first 5 albums of Black Sabbath.

I wasn't just talking about lyrics, but also about covers (to grasp the Ozzy thought, you don't need to read the lyrics; just look at the covers). Then again, as you say, the important thing is how the message is received; it doesn't matter to check the state of mind of the author when they conceived it... From how you set up the discussion, it seemed significant to me the EFFECT produced on the audience by the symbol (cover) in question, years of philosophies and stories aside.
But what do you think happens? Does someone see (or worse, buy) the CCCP record and resurrect the Soviet Union? Or do they become a black block and immediately burn out their brain? Try to think of how many innocent or less innocent symbols, used in a FAR more dishonest way (after all, this is a work of ingenuity – and I didn't say "art" – not a mere commercial product) you can find in a supermarket...

I didn’t like either "I racconti del cuscino" at all, nor 8 donne e 1/2. With "Le valigie di Tulse Luper," it seemed to me like a return to his incredibly chaotic anti-narrative deliriums, featuring characters portrayed by 3 or 4 actors simultaneously, set designs at times worthy of Escher, and a plot that is absolutely incomprehensible (at least the first three times you watch the film). Take it or leave it.

"don't calculate the mass of assholes that such symbols reach": okay, so should we also throw shit at the Stooges? (incitements to drug abuse and violence for brain-dead idiots...) at Black Sabbath? (incitements to black magic and human animal sacrifices, etc.) at the Ramones? (dangerous incitements to mass cretinism... gabba gabba hey!)

I saw her in the latest film by Peter Greenaway, "The Tulse Luper Suitcases," in the role of a newsagent.

What frustrates me a bit is the attitude of those who feel they must defend themselves at all costs from ghosts: you see groups of Bolsheviks ready to sabotage some Winter Palace, what? To me, it seems like the world is going in completely different directions and that the massacres today are being committed by very different people... I fear you are afraid of the wrong things (but that’s just my impression, so let's leave that aside). What seems important to highlight is that it doesn't really make much sense to fear a symbol that refers to something that no longer exists (we're not talking about Nazi groups demonstrating in Germany or assholes in Che shirts, but about a Nation...), and to fear it in such an "impregnable" way, especially in an era where there is nothing more out of fashion than such a "strong" thought... I am very surprised by the automatism of your association CCCP-massacres, without even considering how a symbol can be decontextualized (as Ferretti and co. indeed did).
