Ramones The Best Of

While I share a certain sympathy (it's never been love on my part) for your views on Punk Rock seen in opposition to the typical technicalities of other schools of thought, I didn't quite appreciate the way you expressed them. If you like the Ramones, fred1, you must also enjoy their one-two-three-four tum-pa tum-pa. However, dear 6+9=69, consider how much "smart" music has almost always expressed its creative potential through methods quite different from virtuosity. A name for all: Brian Eno.

great review for a beautiful album. but the davis I love is the one that comes after. in bitches brew he screams, whispers, roars, clamors, mutters, moos, gasps, squeaks, tramples, embroiders, projects, distances, etc., etc...

Of course it's not mine, Aeneas, otherwise I wouldn't have had any doubts about its title ;-)

Wow! Thank you! I had forgotten the title. There's another Herzog documentary from the 70s featuring a famous ski jumping champion. I remember those beautiful slow-motion montages of his jumps that seemed never-ending (a bit in the style of Leni Riefenstahl, with due proportions).

this is beautiful, and I believe it’s titled "Marilyn Monroe": AVIDA DI VITA, DESIAI OGNI AMORE VERO, MA INGOIAI SEDATIVI, DA DIVA

And upon closer inspection, I actually like very little punk myself. It was just a petty clarification.

Let’s say that punk was born as something absolutely "not serious" (gabba gabba hey...) while deeply rooted in the very tangible garage rock of the sixties. We’re not talking about a genre, a tradition, or a “school.” Punk was That phenomenon and nothing else, nothing to do with necrophilia displays or college kid antics from the 90s.

Look, Enea, when I say Punk, I obviously mean that historical movement that exploded in 1976, which has absolutely nothing to do with the antics of certain kids today. Punk DIED back there, in 1979 or so, it didn’t turn into anything else. Even the so-called Post-Punk (which included Siouxsie) wasn’t a direct offshoot of punk, but an endless mix of genres and styles (including punk, obviously, but there was also a good bit of kraut rock, psychedelia, glam, eno-roxyan electronics, etc.).
But have you ever listened to stuff by the Buzzcocks, or the Damned, the first Clash LP, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, the Dead Kennedys?
How can you associate LIQUIDO with punk???????

thank you enea and josi! (I'm such a big talker!!!) but I wonder if they are really that advisable... maybe it's because lately I've been feeding on all sorts of other things. I don't know, I guess I'll have to listen to them again, those simpletons!
